Oral Roberts University President Richard Roberts recently appointed Dr. Mark Lewandowski to serve as the new Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost.

Dr. Lewandowski brings a great mix of practical, high-level business experience and academic expertise to the university. He has a bachelor?s in Business Administration and an MBA from ORU. He earned his Ph.D. in Management from Walden University.

After working with several Fortune 500 companies, from service to manufacturing, Dr. Lewandowski took the helm as President of Provider Medical Pharmaceutical (PMP), a pharmacy benefits manager. By 2000, PMP was nationally recognized as a leader in product development and service delivery. Growth exceeding 140% for four consecutive years led to PMP being acquired by National Medical Health Card (NMHC), a Port Washington, NY company providing pharmacy benefits management services.

In 2001, Dr. Lewandowski became the Senior Vice President of Business Development for the publicly traded company, where he led the charge in strategic relationship development and mergers and acquisitions. In the 2003 publication of Fortune magazine?s The 100 Fastest Growing Companies, NMHC d?buted with a 27 ranking. The September 6, 2004 issue of Fortune boasted of NMHC?s growth and ranked the company No. 6 on The 100 Fastest Growing Companies list.

With a solid track record in business, Dr. Lewandowski was ready to return to his passion: developing young talent. In 2005, he took over as the Dean of the School of Business at ORU. The result was a sharp increase in enrollment and full, specialized accreditation?with no notes or conditions?from the Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP).

In conjunction with Dr. Lewandowski?s change, two new vice provost and one new vice president positions have been created. Dr. Jeff Ogle will serve ORU as Vice Provost of Academic Advancement. Dr. Nancy Brainard will serve the university in her new role as Vice Provost of Student Services. Dr. Ralph Fagin will serve as the Vice President for Academic Administration.

The School of Arts and Sciences will be divided into two specialized schools. The School of Science and Engineering will be led by the new Dean, Dr. Dominic Halsmer. The School of Arts and Cultural Studies will be led by former faculty member and consultant Dr. Wendy Shirk. The School of Business has a new interim Dean, Dr. Marshal Wright, who will fill the vacancy created by Dr. Lewandowski?s move.

Oral Roberts University is an interdenominational Christian liberal arts university located in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Founded in 1963 by evangelist Oral Roberts, ORU serves students from every state and over 60 countries, representing 40 denominations. Offering 63 undergraduate majors, 14 master?s degrees and 2 doctoral degrees, plus NCAA Division I athletics, ORU is preparing its students spiritually, mentally, and physically to go into every person?s world.

Mark has already made so many positive changes in the few months that he has been on staff. So far the University has seen a re-structuring of the academic schools and deans, several firings and hirings, and a nice good kick in the rear to all the departments which made it clear that results, not who you know, is what's going to keep your job.  :-D
