ORUTex
Boyd Nation projects the probabilities for each team in the tournament, based on his ISR rating system, which has us at #37, WSU at 22, and Arizona at 11. So, he says Arizona is the favorite to advance (45%), while we have a 17% chance of winning the regional, a 4% chance of advancing to the CWS, and a (less than 1%) chance of winning it all. I think our odds are a bit better than that, but it's interesting. Note also that this is ignoring home field advantage. Here is his chart for our regional: W-L RPI ISR M Probs Wichita State 48-19 20 24 22 32/11/ 1 Arizona 43-13 21 11 11 45/20/ 2 Oral Roberts 40-15 38 37 24 17/ 4/ 0 New Orleans 37-24 87 75 94 7/ 1/ 0 http://boydsworld.com/breadcrumbs/regionals2007.html
ORUTex
By the way, the "M" column is Massey rating. I like that system better - it has us at #24. http://www.mratings.com/rate.php?lg=cbase
Old Titan
I'm still scratching my head trying to figure out how Arizona is a #2 seed and Wichita is a #1. Everything I have read, including this formula, has Arizona ranked significantly above them. It should have been #1 Arizona facing #4 New Orleans in Game 1, with #3 ORU facing #2 Wichita State in the Game #2 nightcap on Friday...
