mickeyb
Not that anyone's surprised: TULSA, Okla. ? Oral Roberts University?s Chance Chapman garnered Louisville Slugger?s National Player of the Week honors for his career-setting performance against Centenary on May 11, Collegiate Baseball announced today. The senior also earned Mid-Continent Conference Pitcher of the Week for his efforts. Chapman was one of just three players recognized this week, joining Western Carolina's catcher Blake Murphy and Clemson first baseman, Andy D'Alessio. Chapman broke the school record with 19 strikeouts as the Golden Eagles bested Centenary, 12-1. Chapman allowed three hits and one run in his first complete game of his career. The hurler struck out the side twice and at one point struck out seven batters in a row while throwing 150 pitches. This is the second time the right-hander has been honored as ?Louisville Slugger?s? National Player of the Week. Chapman earned his first honors after striking out 17 batters in a 5-3 win against then-No. 7 Arkansas on March 27. ORU wraps up the regular season this coming weekend, playing a four-game set at Western Illinois, starting on Thursday at 12 p.m. -ORU-
