Bogus Smith Posted April 3, 2007 Share Posted April 3, 2007 "LOUISVILLE SLUGGER'S" NATIONAL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK 1B Matt LaPorta, Florida: In four contests last week, LaPorta went 8-for-15 at the plate with 5 homers, 8 RBI, 7 runs scored and 5 walks with no strikeouts. LaPorta established a school record by homering in five straight games going back one game the previous week. RHP Chance Chapman, Oral Roberts: Chapman tied a school record by recording 17 strikeouts against Arkansas in a 5-3 win. He struck out the first six Razorbacks over the first two innings and scattered five hits over 8 2/3 innings of work. 2B Tony Thomas, Florida St.: Thomas went 11-for-19 with 5 home runs, 5 singles and a double in four games last week. He scored nine times and registered 8 RBIs while stealing four of four bases. Thomas tallied 27 total bases and slugged 1.421 for the week. RHP Bryan Rembisz, Vermont: Rembisz struck out a career-high 15 batters while walking one in eight innings during a 6-1 win over Sacred Heart. He allowed three hits.
