Old Titan Posted May 5 Posted May 5 This development has been touched on already in a couple of other places, but I think it bears mentioning in its own thread: a new alliance involving the Summit League and the Missouri Valley Conference via the previously independent, single-sport Missouri Valley Football Conference: On the surface, it's all about FCS football. But the underlying current involves future conference membership: maintaining the status quo in the two mulit-sport conferences, while making the triumvirate more appealing to potential new members that play FCS football. But the question remains: if a Sam Houston State or an Abilene Christian wants to join the football-only MVFC, then which multi-sport conference could/would they also align with: the Summit, or the Missouri Valley? Rhetorical question; tIme will tell...

All that bluster mentioned in another thead re: MIDCO being some sort of advantage moving forward is so backward-thinking it's painful. Until the Summit League agrees to anything resembling a national broadcast network (as opposed to the current cozy arrangement with MIDCO that results in tens of dollars for certain Dakota schools) then the member institutions are doomed to figuratively and literally playing in the dark. 1 3
