Summit League/Missouri Valley (Football) Alliance

This development has been touched on already in a couple of other places, but I think it bears mentioning in its own thread:  a new alliance involving the Summit League and the Missouri Valley Conference via the previously independent, single-sport Missouri Valley Football Conference:

On the surface, it's all about FCS football.  But the underlying current involves future conference membership:  maintaining the status quo in the two mulit-sport conferences, while making the triumvirate more appealing to potential new members that play FCS football.

But the question remains:  if a Sam Houston State or an Abilene Christian wants to join the football-only MVFC, then which multi-sport conference could/would they also align with:  the Summit, or the Missouri Valley?

Rhetorical question; tIme will tell...

Not if it involves MIDCO!

All that bluster mentioned in another thead re: MIDCO being some sort of advantage moving forward is so backward-thinking it's painful.

Until the Summit League agrees to anything resembling a national broadcast network (as opposed to the current cozy arrangement with MIDCO that results in tens of dollars for certain Dakota schools) then the member institutions are doomed to figuratively and literally playing in the dark.

...Summit brass waiting to make that big NCHC/Summit merger announcement, with hockey as the featured attraction.  #jokingnotjoking

Not sure if youre aware or not, but they did actually have discussions.  Only 2 schools in the NCHC were interested, according to UND's well regarded hockey beat writer.  The Summit no longer needs hockey either, because the NCAA eliminatef the rule that conferences sponsor a minimum number of mens team sports, which the summit had been at risk of violating after wiu had left.  Individual sports can now be counted as well.

I hope Summit League schools have nothing to do with this:

I kinda figured it was obvious that I couldn't care less, but I guess it's a relief to have insider information from none other than "UND's well-regarded hockey beat writer" on the subject.

To put as fine a point as possible on this topic:  I rank college hockey just above "e-sports" on my list of "College Athletic Endeavors You Could Not Pay Me To Follow Let Alone Watch".

Read the room dude.  There is limited interest on this board for college hockey.  Why you insist on muddying our waters with college hockey talk is a mystery to me.  Do you do this on the message board of all the other Summit League schools?
