Fighting Hawks are 7-11 and coming off a resounding 25 point win at Denver last night.....UND scores a lot of points so chances are they are a danger to put up 100 at Mabee Center....Good Guys better figure out a way to clog the lane and defend that 3 point line.....or it's going to be another long evening.....ORU needs a win...badly....GO BLUE!!!  :shield-logo:

You like offense?

Then be at the Mabee Center Saturday night, when two of the more prolific scorers in D1 (Issac McBride and Treysen Eaglestaff) face off against two defenses that (shall we say politely) are more than capable of providing a scoreboard-igniting night of offensive pyrotechnics.

ORU is a home dog again +2.5 vs. a below average 7-11 UND squad. We are embarrassing on D....has ORU ever given up back to back 100s at Mabee Center or the old HRC? 😵‍💫

We haven't proven that we deserve to be favored for any D-1 game this season.  Until we can prove that we can beat someone other than a D-2/NAIA team (and that can be dicey sometimes), we don't deserve to be favored.  Let's show Vegas that we can #ProtectTheMabee Saturday night.

TheEagleman tries to be optimistic especially at the start of a new year....and there is much to be excited for in 2025 beginning with a new much improved President of the USA in just 9 days....bring it on!....but I digress.....the topic at hand is tonight's basketball game at Mabee Center and let's face it.....our team isn't very good....but the thing is our opponent isn't really that good either at 7-11.....the Good Guys played non existent defense on Thursday night vs. NDSU and it's doubtful that much has changed in the past 36 hours.....but hard to believe that HCRS hasn't challenged his team to stand up and be real men and show that they have some heart....this team badly needs a win and this is a spot where they need to get one....the fans will be ready I am sure....but will the team?....gonna go out on a limb here because i am an optimist and say YES!!...Senior Isaac McBride has to be the leader that we expect him to be and some of the young guys must step up.....hoping for a loud crowd at Mabee and hopefully some better officiating than the other night....ORU battles all evening and finds a way in the end to beat the Fighting Hawks...it will be run and gun basketball like the old days reviving the ghosts of Fuqua, Roberts and McCants......ORU 94 UND 90....GO BLUE!!!! :tb-white:

This is a critical game for the positive mindset of the team.  We won't get many chances to win as good as this one, against a very beatable team - at home.

UND is a good rebounding team and ORU is well, you know.  The Eagles cannot give away a ton of offensive boards and expect to win.  That is the key tonight.  I would say because of this UND wins 85-75.

I would give ORU a 30% chance of winning as we play abysmal defense. McBride will have to put up big numbers and  have some additional help offensively. ND 95-ORU 85.

This game is also critical for the mindset of the fans! My mindset right now is questionable at best🤪

ESPN gives us a 55% chance to win. Let’s have some of that ESPN optimism!! 🤣

I give ORU the nod 88-83 over the Fighting Hawks.  GO EAGLES!!

The sad thing is that ORU, UND and Denver are currently the likely contenders for the "play-in" 8/9 seed game in Sioux Falls, of which the winner earns the privilege of playing the #1 seed the following day.  A win against UND puts ORU one step closer to avoiding the embarrassment of playing in the 8/9 game.  A home loss against the Fighting Hawks could mean we're headed to Sioux Falls one day early...

And hopefully not a one and done, TrueBlue82.

Noticing that when j Moore, B Moore, and Issac play the offense flows much better. B Moore can really shoot it and brings another option and stretches the floor for Issac. Jo Jo drives and also opens the floor up for Issac and B Moore. I like Gray, j Moore, b Moore, miller and Issac as the most competitive group. Gray rebounds and finishes at the rim. Josh is not a threat on the offensive side and struggles defensively. I don’t know why we keep playing him.

I was wrong again, as usual but hey the good guys won.  The new announcer said at the end, in a stunner the Eagles win 83-79!  Funny, of course he was not here when ORU was 30-5 and running over the league.  JoJo Moore is a beast, scoring at will around the rim and giving Eaglestaff fits on the defense end.  He is no longer a freshman but a man, which the Eagles needed desperately.

Josh Jones gave some quality minutes and came up with the huge block on the drive to the rim with about 30 seconds ago.  What was the deal with JoJo Moore's block that it took 5 minutes to figure out.  The coaches were hugging it out at mid court it took so long.

Really glad my prediction was wrong! Good win for the Eagles!🦅 McBride did his job as did Jo Jo Moore! Moving forward we will need both of these guys stepping up every night if we want to be competitive. Jo Jo was quite impressive on the defensive end as well. Maybe Jo Jo stepping up will inspire the rest of the team.  Mc Bride played like the Summit POY tonight!
