This e-mail went out to all ORU alumni this afternoon:

We won! We won!

Yes, the ORU men's and women's basketball teams both won their final matches yesterday at the Mid-Continent Conference championship tournament. The men beat Oakland, 71-67, and the women beat Oakland, 72-55. It's the first time both teams have won the conference title in the same year, and the first time the men have won back-to-back titles.

What does all this mean?

We're going dancing!

The Big Dance (aka the NCAA Tournament) begins next week. ORU's teams will find out on Sunday and Monday what their seed is and where they'll play.

ORU Athletics is hosting watch parties so fans can come and watch the selection shows-being televised on CBS and ESPN-and congratulate the two teams.

The men's watch party will be Sunday, March 11, beginning at 4 p.m. on the Mabee Center main court. The women's watch party will be on Monday, March 12, beginning at 4:30 p.m. in the Mabee Center practice gym. Both the men's and women's selection shows begin at 5 p.m. For both parties, fans should enter through the southeast Security entrance.

A travel agent will be on hand in case fans would like to make travel arrangements. There will also be a sign-up sheet for ticket purchases. A limited number of first- and second-round tickets will be available from Athletics. These tickets will be distributed based on a Priority Points System while supplies last. Depending on the situation, a lottery system could be used as a secondary measure.

Those interested in first- and/or second-round tickets should contact Alexi Powell at (918) 495-6151 or at apowell@oru.edu no later than 12 noon on Monday, March 12. Athletics cannot guarantee that those who sign up for tickets will be able to purchase them, since there will be a limited number available.
