Otis 83 Posted September 9, 2024 Posted September 9, 2024 I have a good friend from church and both of his daughter's went to Hebron. I asked him if he knows Austin and he said "no but I know his dad." I told him that next time he sees the dad tell him he knows the biggest ORU fan in Lewisville, if not Denton Co. He responded "Dare you say all of north Texas" and I responded that honor probably goes to my friend @Sterns78 I'm also tempted to show up at a Hebron game next spring in full ORU attire! 2 1
Old Titan Posted June 12 Posted June 12 Unfortunate development; I'm guessing that with the surgery he may miss next season, and under the new rules (roster limits, no walk-ons, etc.) ORU literally and figuratively can't afford to take him now?

They probably suggested that he go the JUCO route until his rehab is over and come back as a redshirt sophomore. I’m not sure what D-1 team will have the capacity to take on a project like that with the new rules and roster limits. He looked like a good fit for us.
Old Titan Posted June 12 Posted June 12 No shame in simply taking a year off from academic endeavors while he rehabs. I'm sure ORU, some other school, or a juco would be willing to take him in 12 months if he's pitching like he did before the injury. He could even take online courses if he wanted to during that time, so he's not losing too much ground in pursuit of a college degree. The more I think of it, the more it sounds like he's simply hoping to find a place that will give him a free ride (and possible NIL money) just for rehab-ing. Hard to imagine in the current climate - high school prospects have little to no leverage in this new world of immediate transfer availability and seemingly endless college eligibility.
