ORUTerry
ORU Notebook: Story Link by MIKE BROWN World Sports Writer 3/6/2007 Sitting pretty: ORU has been here twice before -- one game from an NCAA Tournament berth. Things didn't work out so well two years ago when Oakland upset the Golden Eagles 61-60 on a last-second shot at the Union Multipurpose Activity Center. ORU made up for it by beating Chicago State in last year's Mid-Con final to clinch its first NCAA appearance in 22 years. "We're not where we need to be," said senior forward Caleb Green. "We need to win, and put ourselves in the best position to get a great seed in the (NCAA)." Scoring update: With 25 in Tuesday's win, Caleb Green has scored 2,462 points -- 26 shy of the Mid-Con career record of 2,488, set by UMKC guard Michael Watson in 2000-04. Ken Tutt has 1,980 points. If he reaches 2,000, he and Green will be only the seventh Division I teammates to reach that plateau in the same years. District honors: ORU's Green joined Oklahoma State's Mario Boggan and JamesOn Curry in being chosen to the National Association of Basketball Coaches all-district team for District 12. Boggan was named to the first team. Green and Curry were named to the second team.
