While any ORU wins in the Norman regional would be icing on top of the cake, I have to say that this draw was about as favorable for ORU as I could expect. Close location for Tulsa fans, a field and stadium that the Eagles have played on every year, the only National Seed that ORU defeated (split) this season, a Northern-based #3 seed, and an opportunity to get some ORU payback against a big-name school in Duke.  Despite posting the worst (and only losing) record of tournament participants, I think ORU has as much chance to advance as any #4 seed.

That is a lot of respect for a team with the only losing record in one of the bottom three baseball conferences in the country to get the #55 seed in the tournament.  Winning the conference tournament like ORU did probably went a long way to elevating our lot in the tournament.

What does that say for the teams seeded #56-#64?

It says they didn't go to the CWS last year, let alone win a game there.

Along those lines, there are 6 teams with longer odds than ORU (and 2 more with the same) to win the CWS, at +70000. A dollar to win it all would pay $700.

That's better odds than a lottery ticket.  Just sayin'..........

We are the only team in the field with a losing record (in arguable the worst conference). Last year’s CWS appearance doing us favors.

Refresh the old memory of TheEagleman....but wasn't there some bad blood at the end of the OU-ORU game at JLJ last month???....could make for some interesting moments this Friday Night in Norman.....

Dalton Patton had some choice words in the general direction of the OU bench as he got the third strike call to end the game; the OU batter that he retired was not a fan.

Just good ol' country hard ball...

I seem to remember Dalton ending a game in Oregon that way.  Love his enthusiasm!

Interestingly, Duke is the betting favorite to win the regional. They're -110, while OU is +145. UConn +700, and ORU is +2500, which will "only" win you $25 for every dollar bet.

Baseball America ranked all 64 of the tournament teams, with ORU ranked 63rd.  Not a ton of respect from them here(the article on their website is behind a pay wall, but they show the full rankings on their Instagram)
