Guest Rob Marshall
The local line for the game on Saturday night has ORU opening as a 13 point favorite over Tulsa. Oklahoma was a 16 point favorite over TU on Wednesday night. OU cruised to a 19 point halftime advantage; the Sooners were so obviously disinterested in playing the second half of the game, because the outcome was never in question. TU managed to pull out a big second half blanket to cover the spread only to lose the game that was not nearly as close as the final score suggested. Just enough "hope" shown in the second half by the Hurricane to make TU fans believe they are good enough to beat ORU at the Mabee Center on Saturday night. Won't happen ... ORU easily by nine (or more) and if the Golden Eagles really take this seriously and play to their talent level for forty minutes it will be by 20+. tbone77
I agree with Rob's predicitions, and especially the qualification. We haven't seen 40 minutes of intensity yet this season, but gotta believe we will get there, and hopefully tomorrow night. What will be the deciding factors Saturday? We have seen foul trouble, poor shooting, turnovers, and poor free throws bite us in our 2 losses. We have also seen some great basketball from a very deep ORU team in both of those games. 40 minutes of that and they can win a bunch! ORUTerry
How will they (and TU) react to what is expected to be a large, boisterous crowd? Will they be so juiced up that it takes them a while to get into the flow of the game? Last year got two quick buckets from the post position (Green and Michalec) that set the tone of the game. Guest Rob Marshall
First Half: ORU plays with tremendous focus and intensity (i.e., to it's potential); result was complete domination ... up 24 at the break. Second Half: ORU is sloppy, plays more players, sits Green, Tutt, and Owens more minutes ... final score, ORU by 16. Hope some people took advantage of the local "home cooked" line and had ORU by 13. Easy money, right?!?!? Nice win for ORU and congrats to Scott and Co. for three in a row over the Hurricane; this TU team proved again they will be a group of guys that do NOT quit under the leadership Doug Wojcik regardless of how much they are embarrassed. Kuddos to TU for playing a competitive final 20 minutes.
