ORUTerry
ORU Notebook By MIKE BROWN World Sports Writer 1/28/2007 Waiting Game: ORU will find out Monday whether it gets to host a television game for the Feb. 16-17 BracketBuster series. As of Saturday, the Golden Eagles were 12th in the pool of hosting teams with a ratings percentage index of 99 (source: collegeRPI.com). Thirteen games will air on ESPN networks. Rating in the top 13 does not guarantee a TV game, but ORU has done everything it can to warrant consideration by winning nine straight. TV games will be announced on ESPNU (Cox Cable 53) at 5 p.m. Monday. The balance of games will be announced Tuesday for the 102-team pool. Widespread speculation has Butler, No. 18 in the RPI, hosting RPI No. 10 Southern Illinois in the premier game. ORU insiders have suggested RPI No. 67 Utah State or RPI No. 80 Evansville as possible TV foes for the Eagles. On the mend: ORU trainer Glenn Smith said Marchello Vealy sat out Friday's full-contact practice drills after playing 27 minutes in Thursday's 73-63 win over Oakland (Mich.). Vealy had missed the two previous games with a groin injury and Smith held him out for precautionary reasons. Against Oakland, Vealy posted his first collegiate double-double (17 points, 16 rebounds). The 6-foot-7 sophomore seemed fine Saturday, scoring 18 points with three rebounds, two assists and two blocked shots in 25 minutes against Indiana-Purdue. Piling up: ORU's nine-game win streak is the longest since a nine-game streak in Bill Self's last season at the helm in 1996-97. Another win would tie Self's 10-game streak in 1995-96. "I don't think the kids are feeling pressure," coach Scott Sutton said. "I think they're enjoying it. But there's a lot of things we can improve on."
