Old Titan
ORU has lost 16 straight Wednesday road games, according to one Vegas picker. So, are they due? Or, are they cursed for playing on what traditionally has been a night of adult education, youth groups, and choir practice at ye olde house of worship? Can't make a prediction where the forces of fate and providence are clashing; guess we'll just see what happens...
Old Titan
Only DJ Weaver sighting: brief clip stretching his calves on the sideline between drills.
eagle88
I’ll go out on a limb and predict a win tonight. ORU 75 MT State 71. It would be great to be 500.
TrueBlue82
I believe that it is more likely that the team will play similar to how they played in the game on Sunday, and that Friday's debacle will be considered as the anomaly of the season. The fact that Montana State has not showed itself to be a strong rebounding team so far this year is another positive for tonight's outcome, in that ORU's weakness in rebounding will (hopefully) not be exposed. If ORU can stay even on the boards and take care of the ball (minimal turnovers), I like the Eagles' chances tonight.
Texasgrip
Solid win down the stretch for the good guys!
Old Titan
Hey, @tmh8286 - now THAT was some bad officiating!! Guess it's pretty hard to find anybody good for a Wednesday night in Bozeman, MT. Nice job of taking care of business down the stretch playing 5-on-8.
Bogus Smith
Nice win by the good guys tonight, 82-76. Should have taken ORU and the points, @theeagleman5!! A very tough grinder that will be good for us as we go through the season with some confidence. Now it is on to Protect the Mabee!! Just now, Old Titan said: Guess it's pretty hard to find anybody good for a Wednesday night in Bozeman, MT... Seriously, are there ANY good officials in Montana?? Asking for a friend.... 1
Keenan Henderson
Trey for the trey! What a shot by the senior, giving the Eagles the 4 point lead down the stretch. His best game of the year and Bedford was on target from the free throw line (10-10). Good win for ORU and they won 2 of 3 on the road without DJ Weaver. The guys are moving in the right direction. I am guessing they are letting DJ rest until the Eagles get back to conference play. Does anybody know anything?
eagle88
Really good road win tonight! Our guys played well and you’ve gotta love the monster jams by Ashton Smith! He is going to be a good one. Kuddos to Trey as he hit a big time 3 at a crucial time towards the end of the game. Can’t say enough good about McBride, Thompson and Bedford. A win on Saturday would be icing on the cake!
Old Titan
According to the pregame "Health Moment", D.J. is "day-to-day, when he will return is unknown". That doesn't sound too promising for Saturday, but I guess we'll see...
EagleManiac
Great win for the good guys. Lots to be optimistic about after that one. We're a different team without DJ, though. I don't think we've got much of a shot on Saturday without him, unfortunately. 49 minutes ago, Old Titan said: Hey, @tmh8286 - now THAT was some bad officiating!! Old Titan
Regarding the referees: all are Big Sky refs (no surprise), but one of them - Kevin Brill - is actually ranked No. 60 nationally by KenPom's "Ref Ratings", with games last year in postseason tournaments for the Big Sky, the Big West, and Pac-12, plus two NIT games and two rounds of the Sacramento Regional in the NCAA tournament. The other two were Ryan Holmes (No. 126) and De Selle Dean (unranked in KenPom's Top 200). I think it was Holmes who tried to take things over with several questionable calls down the stretch, all in MSU's favor. The most egregious was granting the MSU player a timeout as he fell out of bounds with an offensive rebound in the final minute, with the ensuing inbound play resulting in a corner three that cut the lead to one (right before Phipps' dagger three with :26 to go). Nothing like remembering who butters your bread there, fella...
Popular Post ORUJason
ORU shot over 80% from the FT line (23 of 27), over 50% from the field and 50% from the 3-point line. That is an impressive performance on the road. Phipps was 3 of 4 from behind the 3-point line and scored 11 points. I am happy for him. We have known that he was a great shooter in high school and it is nice to see him playing well. 3
theeagleman5
Another surprising road victory last night in Bozeman for the Good Guys...TWO in a row!?!?!....who would have thunk it especially after starting the season 0-7???.....highlights for TheEagleman was that first half spinarama shot by Thompson on a drive to the basket where he was also fouled and of course the late 3 point dagger that Phipps drilled to pretty much clinch the win.....how things have changed from this time last week when most of us questioned whether this team had any heart after that bleepshow in Kansas City....only to watch ORU win close games in Denver and at Montana State.....looks like whatever Coach Springmann said has worked.....so now we come to perhaps our toughest home opponent of the season in Weber State who edged SDSU last night at home......should be fun....and it's on national TV thanks to CBS SportsNetwork.... TheEagleman is getting pumped already......GO BLUE!!! 1
Keenan Henderson
Bedford was off the charts last night with the drives, finishes, rebounding, etc. He is putting up huge numbers 14.5 points and 6.5 rebounds per game. I cannot remember a Juco player who came in and had that much of an impact on ORU right away in a long time. Kareem was good his first year at ORU but Bedford has taken it to a whole other level.

Popular Post tmh8286
Nice recap!! I'm loving the way Aston Smith plays around the basket. He had a couple power dunks last night that would excite any ORU fan! But he also has a soft touch with shots around the basket, something that Sir Isaac seems to struggle with. I'm thrilled he's part of our post rotation - he adds a whole new dimension to play under the basket.
