Does this mean that we might get to see Ashton Smith this year?  All I've heard is "eligibility issues", will this help his situation?

It appears several schools with transfers with at least one year of eligibility AFTER this season are choosing NOT to play them, despite the ruling.

They fear another reversal of the rule in January, either in the courts or by the NCAA, and those players losing their redshirt status in exchange for just a couple of games worth of action during the 14-day window.

Stay tuned...

Fantastic perspective from a mid-major coach:

Excellent insider's perspective on the abject chaos that is recruiting at this point in college basketball. Between the NCAA and the courts coaches hardly know what the rules are or who is in charge any more. It seems that from the courts' perspective the players are in total control of their destiny, which makes recruiting and maintaining a team nearly impossible. Will schools try to get  players to sign contracts to ensure commitment to a program, and if so, would they even be enforceable? Current legal rulings seem to be taking all control out of the hands of the colleges/teams.

I suspect this chaos negatively affects mid-majors the most.

And....it officially gets more muddled.  The NCAA is clutching at straws trying to show some sort of control over their member schools.

At some point, they're going to get so mad, they'll give OSU another couple of years of probation as a warning to all their members.  😉

TheEagleman tries to stay out of these conversations because I am far from an expert and don't study NCAA rules but This whole thing is a joke....NIL $$$ is one thing and i don't disagree with players reaping the benefits they have earned....but transferring all over without having to sit out needs to be stopped....Connor Vanover just one example....love the guy but geez....he goes from California to Arkansas to ORU to Missouri....come on, dude....and the NCAA allows it?....Football is just as bad with name QBs going from school to school......this is taking the enjoyment out of college sports.....many of my friends are losing interest and TheEagleman is starting to feel the same way......the NCAA needs to fix this or it will be the ruination of "amateur" NCAA sports by the end of this decade if not sooner.....🤢

The NCAA officially has no clue what they are doing anymore, or what they stand for:

  • Now, there will be NO redshirt retaliation for multi-transfers who play during the current so-called "14-day window"
  • AND, the 14-day window is being EXTENDED till the end of the 2024 spring semester.

Such a clown show - they are digging their own graves. 🤡 ☠️
