ORUTerry
BYU outlasts Eagles By Staff Reports 12/30/2006 PROVO, Utah -- Oral Roberts University wasn't the same team without its two-time conference player of the year. Senior forward Caleb Green collected 21 points and 13 rebounds but fouled out with 4:39 left, and Brigham Young pulled away to a 72-62 college basketball win in Friday's second night of the Cougars' Holiday Classic. Keena Young posted 21 points and 16 rebounds as BYU (9-4) won its 22nd straight home game. Ken Tutt led the Eagles (6-7) with 24 points. ORU trailed 37-33 at halftime but used a 16-2 surge to build a 49-39 lead three minutes into the second half. The lead dwindled quickly, however, when Green went to the bench with his fourth foul with 13:10 left. He later returned to hit two foul shots, forging the game's last tie at 57 with 6:30 left. But Green picked up his fifth foul while sandwiched between three defenders and BYU ran off the next seven points. It didn't help against the taller Cougars that 6-foot-7 Marchello Vealy also fouled out moments after Green. Vealy slapped the floor in frustration and also received a technical foul. ORU, which upset Seton Hall 76-74 on Thursday night, concludes the tournament facing Liberty at 6 p.m. Saturday. "We need to recapture the momentum we built from winning (against Seton Hall)," ORU coach Scott Sutton said. BYU 72, ORU
