Jonah was promoted to Single-A Stockton in the California League on Tuesday.  After two games with Stockton, he is batting 3-for-9 for .333 batting average and has yet to make a miscue in the field on 14 chances.  In his short pro career, he is hitting .393 (Rookie and A ball) and a .500 OBP.

Thanks for the updates Bogus.  The article indicated that his arm was below average, which I found surprising, since prior to coming to ORU he played shortstop.

I think for outfield play, the throwing arm is judged on the ability to get the ball to third and home.  Throwing from the hole at short to first base is not as far.  Throwing from the outfield can be a strength and conditioning effort with time which can improve that score.  Jonah's speed and bat are his forte right now and a skill that is more innate than taught.

A Jonah sighting last night......

Jonah seems to be wearing down as the season progresses.  He has been playing nine months straight, plus last year's fall workouts.  He is currently .292 / .321 / .707, but is only hitting .185 with 14 Ks in 27 ABs.  Fortunately for Jonah, the season ends Sunday.  Hopefully he'll get some time in the Arizona Fall League.

The A's announced today they traded Jonah to the Giants for RHP Ross Stripling.  I wish Jonah the best in the Giants system although I was kinda hoping I'd get to see him play when the As come to town.

Jonah was at the Diamond Dinner tonight. It was great hearing him and others share their memories and experiences from last season and the CWS.

I think Jonah will become one of the best-known Golden Eagle to come from our baseball program.  He's showing himself well right now.

Jonah was VERY fortunate to be traded out of the A's organization to become a SF Giant so early in his career.  He will now have the opportunity to progress through the minor leagues at a reasonable rate within a stable and mature farm system, and (hopefully) reach the Show ready for success.  The A's are a slow-motion trainwreck in progress with nothing in place to stop the negative momentum for the foreseeable future.

Kudos to the SF Giants for recognizing Jonah's talents and getting him included in that deal last year for a mediocre bullpen pitcher....SF scouts clearly did their job and singled out Cox as a guy to grab before the pathetic A's realized how good this kid is......honestly ORU has gotta be missing a guy like Jonah and a few others in the locker room this year of course on the field as well.....that 2023 ORU squad was special in so many ways.....we got spoiled....but what a run to the CWS!!! TheEagleman will never forget it!!! :tb-white:

In addition, he has 25 stolen bases, and only caught twice.   Looks like time for a promotion.

Jonah has had four errors in CF this season (no errors last season), so I'm sure he is either taking chances that are beyond his abilities currently or is making some poor decisions in the field.  All should be correctable though.

Regardless, I think that Jonah has the skills to make it to The Show in a relatively quick time - either in the Giants organization or he will be trade bait for another talent in another organization.
