Radio/TV: Eddie Sutton joins weekly radio show

His show will air for one hour on Tuesdays.

Retirement just got busier for Eddie Sutton.

The former Oklahoma State basketball coach has agreed to co-host a sports talk show on a Tulsa radio station. Sutton will join Al Jerkens and Chris Lincoln from 11 a.m. to noon every Tuesday on The Sports Animal, KYAL 97.1 FM. The program is simulcast on AM 1550 and AM 1490.

"They have been trying to get me down there for quite awhile, but I told them I just didn't have time to do it," said Sutton, who has a part-time job at a downtown Tulsa Spirit Bank location.

"I finally agreed. I said I would do it one hour a week. That way I might be able to give basketball fans some tidbits about what is going on in college basketball. I feel like there are some things probably that I can cover not only here in this area, but I talk to coaches across the country -- not all of the time, but quite often. I think it will be fun."

Sutton spent 16 years as OSU's basketball coach and retired following the end of last season. He is the fifth-winningest coach in college basketball history with 798 career victories.

Sutton said he has always enjoyed doing radio. He had a weekly radio call-in show when he was coaching the Cowboys.

Sports Animal sports director Kevin Ward announced Wednesday in a press release that Sutton was joining the radio crew. Sutton is scheduled to begin his new job next Tuesday.
