St. Thomas at ORU

Tommies hung around for 30 minutes at KC last night then got wasted by 21 at the end....this team still basically a non D-1 school trying to compete at D-1...look, I know they are 13-7 but most of those wins are against the lowlifes of D-1 and non-D-1 schools...most impressive win is at home vs. NDSU but the Bison were playing poorly at the time....this game on Sat night at Mabee Center will be a big test to see how far St. Thomas has progressed....no doubt this team could be a Summit contender in a couple years once they get their recruiting situation settled....if they can go toe to toe for 40 minutes with the Good Guys tomorrow then TheEagleman will be very impressed.....expecting this line to be around 15ish....Tommies could cover....TheEagleman has to watch more tape before making a prediction but if Max stays on fire gonna be a long night for the Tommies.....GO BLUE!!! :tb-white:

My primary concern with the Tommies is that they like to take a lot of threes.  ORU should be fine, as the Tommies are 95th in the country in 3PFG% and ORU is #300 in three point defense.  Meanwhile, ORU is 38th in 3PFG% and the STT defense is #283 in three point defense.  About a wash…

But, even though this looks like a slight advantage to ORU, we all know that “live by the three, die by the three” can go either way if one team gets hot and the other cold.  Most of the other Summit opponents we have played to date were not significant three point threats, which made a large deficit difficult to overcome.  STT will be a tougher “out”, especially if they get hot from deep.

Since St. Thomas moved to D1, they usually give their opponents a tough game for 30 minutes and then run out of gas at the end.  They have some good young talent but still not enough size to stay with a good team for the whole 40 minutes.  ORU should pull away in the last 10 minutes: 85-74.

One good thing about ORU lately is that some of them are crashing the offensive boards💪🏀

ESPN has ORU as an 80% chance to win this game....actually lower than the 85% vs. WIU......so perhaps the line will be under 15......Tommies have lost their last 3 on the road in the Summit.....they can score averaging 76 a game to ORU's 84......expecting an entertaining contest....:tb-blue:

Line is ORU -11.5.  85.5-74 for the O/U of 159.5.

I don’t like the Tommies to cover that number.

Agree Otis....Thought that number should be higher...TheEagleman thinks ORU will pull away in the 2nd half and cover with an 88-71 win....Max pops in another 30+....Phipps scores a little less....😛

Take ORU and give the points.  The bench will play on Saturday night.  That's MONEY!! 💸

The Tommies will surprise tonight. They've got some hoppers and they are tough. ORU wins a more competitive game than Thursday night to stay undefeated in the Summit.

DJ has played well this Eagleman year at times; he just needs minutes!

It was a 5 point game with 10 minutes to go and I thought to myself “is this when the Tommies start to fall behind.”  Maybe so. The good guys with a 12 point lead 3 minutes later.

Let’s keep the foot on the gas!
