Smoking cuts for classic cartoons

Turner Broadcasting which holds ownership of Tom & Jerry, Hanna-Barbera, and other classic cartoons will begin scouring it's archives to remove scenes containing smoking.

Kind of reminds me of the ancient Egyptians expunging all record of the captivity of the Children of Israel . . .

If we erase all traces of smoking everywhere, then it never existed.

Yeah, I could see the point of not having cartoon characters smoke from now on (ie, cartoons made from this point in time and beyond), but I think it's ridiculous to go back and edit that out of cartoons that were made years ago. What's done is done, and I'm not really for "Photoshopping" history to make it look pretty today.

Ted Turner has already "colorized" many great old movies.  Now maybe he can complete the distruction of the Hollywood classics in his possession by making them "smoke-free" as well.
