I guess the transition to the wooden bats is not an issue! As of this morning, he was batting .500 (6 for 12), and platooning as a DH and SS. Torres, ValleyCats trounce Tigers June 22, 2006 Tim Torres had three hits and drove in five runs as visiting Tri-City crushed Oneonta, 11-4, on Wednesday. Torres drove in his first run with a single in the third inning to tie the game, 1-1. The 22-year-old shortstop accounted for three of the ValleyCats' six runs in the sixth as he laced a two-run single before scoring on a double steal with Nicholas Moresi. Torres, who had two hits and an RBI in Tuesday's season opener, capped his big night with a sacrifice fly in the eighth. Cesar Quintero went 4-for-5 with three runs scored and an RBI for Tri-City (1-1), while Nathan Warrick went 4-for-6 with two runs scored and an RBI. Eric Taylor chipped in two hits and drove in a run as the ValleyCats pounded out 17 hits. Tri-City reliever Chad Wagler (1-0) gave up one unearned run over 2 2/3 hitless innings to pick up the victory. The 22-year-old right-hander struck out one and walked one. Oneonta reliever Brendan Wise (0-1) was saddled with the loss, allowing three runs on seven hits over 2 1/3 innings. He struck out three and did not issue a walk.
