The good news following today’s equalizer in Baton Rouge:  ORU still leads in the aggregate score category for this weekend, 22-19. 😉

Tigers were ticked as expected....how can we score 22 one day and 0 the next....sigh.....😬

ORU up 2-1 bottom of the 8th.....

On to the ninth.....ORU works around a Martinez error on a ground ball double play....he makes up for with a great play to end the inning w/the tying run at third.....

3-1 ORU.  Can we hang on?

Very nice win. Especially holding the Tigers to 1 run. They are an offensive juggernaut

In 1983, ORU swept a 2-game series from Texas at Johnson Stadium, with future MLB stars Roger Clemons, Calvin Schiraldi, Mike Capel, Mike Brumley, etc.  That Longhorns team went on to win the College World Series about a month later, finishing 66-14 for the year (crazy how many games used to be played per season back then).

I'm hard-pressed, though, to recall ORU ever taking a series on the road from a top-10 ranked SEC team.  That 2017 Alabama team that ORU swept in 3 games in Tuscaloosa was not ranked.

Fantastic job today:  great pitching, with timely (if not perfect) hitting and defense.

ORU Baseball social media has been truly on-point this weekend, what with the "Tiger Kings" gloss on Friday, and now this shade thrown at the SEC brand slogan:

TheEagleman is gonna cry....2 of 3 from LSU in baseball....2 game sweep of Denver in soccer...if ORU men can win in Sioux Falls tonight that would be the hat trick...😁

Remember being there what a crowd and series?

The "piece de resistance" to the "stunner in Baton Rouge" is that it was a three-game weekend series with both teams at full strength and starting top-line pitchers.  When Power Five teams lose a mid-week game to ORU, their fans (and media) will often discount the loss because they were "resting their stars for the important conference series next weekend" or that "ORU saves their best pitcher for the P5 mid-week games" (as if ORU doesn't care about winning its own conference???).  No such chatter this weekend! 😎
