EagleFan21 Posted February 7, 2020 Posted February 7, 2020 Hard to believe baseball season is right around the corner. H/S teams are practicing, some NAIA teams are already playing, D1 starts next Friday and MLB pitchers and cathers report next Wednesday! Nothing like the soothing sounds of mitts popping & bats cracking to say Spring is on the way!
theeagleman5 Posted February 14, 2020 Author Posted February 14, 2020 Looks like a clear but chilly opening day for ORU this afternoon vs. Merrimack....a nice four game series.....weather looks good and warming up to the 55-60 range for Saturday and Sunday.....GO Eagles!!... 1
theeagleman5 Posted February 14, 2020 Author Posted February 14, 2020 It's 1-1 in the 3rd.....this is Merrimacks' first ever game in D-1....
ORUTex Posted February 14, 2020 Posted February 14, 2020 Good guys trying to rally at 1-1 in the bottom of the 8th. The video feed with audio and stats is absolutely fantastic! https://oruathletics.com/sports/bsb/2019-20/boxscores/20200214_9mpb.xml
ORUTex Posted February 14, 2020 Posted February 14, 2020 Got one in the 8th and held on to win 2-1. Nice to start 1-0 regardless of opponent. And Merrimack has been a pretty good D-2 program for years - here's a good summary and preview: https://www.themackreport.com/baseball/2020-merrimack-baseball-preview/
EagleFan21 Posted February 15, 2020 Posted February 15, 2020 Way to battle boys. It was a cold one, but we got the W. Saw some good things today and think we'll see this team get even better over the next 30 days. Fly Eagles Fly!
theeagleman5 Posted February 15, 2020 Author Posted February 15, 2020 Good pitching....no timely hitting....lets hope the bats warm up today....nice day to play two. Its 22 degrees here in Philly but hopefully 30 degrees warmer in Tulsa...go Blue! 1
ORU GRAD Posted February 15, 2020 Posted February 15, 2020 I am watching the game. 4-2 Merrimack Hall has 2 HR.
theeagleman5 Posted February 16, 2020 Author Posted February 16, 2020 Dropping a DH to Merrimack?...gonna be a looooong season.... 1
Otis 83 Posted February 16, 2020 Posted February 16, 2020 Not a great start to say the least. The video looked good. I figured out how to dial up the game on the Xbox so I could watch on the big screen. That was pretty cool.

TrueBlue82 Posted February 16, 2020 Posted February 16, 2020 Very anemic performance today by the offense. It appeared that the team was expecting a "walkover" weekend as a warm-up to next week's trip to Baylor. WAY too many fly balls that got knocked down by the wind for easy catches. The pitching and defense were decent, but Merrimack was scrappy and took advantage of every opportunity that they were given. All the energy was in the third base dugout today - in fact, listening to the broadcast, the visitors were often louder than the home team and fans combined. Early season gut check for the team and coaching staff.
theeagleman5 Posted February 16, 2020 Author Posted February 16, 2020 Baylor will wipe the floor with us...…...plus we have an upcoming road trip to Dallas Baptist in the next few weeks....ORU better get their heads out of their you know what and quickly....starting today would be nice....gotta get a series split...losing 3 of 4 to Merrimack at home would be a disgrace....….
ORUTex Posted February 16, 2020 Posted February 16, 2020 Tough day yesterday that could be a really bad sign if the bats don't get going soon.
theeagleman5 Posted February 16, 2020 Author Posted February 16, 2020 Hunter Swift with 8 strong innings today and ORU salvages a split with Merrimack, 4-1....so the world didnt end...at least not today.... 1
