The majority of Memphis fans will be THRILLED if Pastner leaves.

Attendance in Memphis has plummeted over the past couple of years from 16,000 down to barely 6,000.

It is easy to say you would turn down an additional $200K a year, but would you really?  Also, expectations are high at SDSU and expectations might not be quite as high at Wright State.  Although, when you hand over $500K/year, there are some expectations that go with it.  I spoke to a friend a few days ago about this and he mentioned:

1.  If you succeed at Wright State, you will have high visibility to MAC schools (and Big 10 schools) that have large budgets,

2.  You are close to good recruiting areas in Indianapolis, Cincinnati, Columbus, and Dayton, and

3.  The winters in Ohio will not be as harsh or long as the winters in SD.

It seems that there may be more to this story because after being somewhere for 29 years, you become a revered individual throughout an entire state.  That is something significant to walk away from.  Of course that state is South Dakota...

Recruited the majority of the talent that led to the ISU resurgence. But does that translate to the Summit League level? Doubtful.

Recruiting players to the cornfields of Iowa surely can't be much easier than recruiting to South Dakota. Generally, a good recruiter can recruit at any level. Hopefully he can build off of Nagy's success and be a solid number 2.. Behind ORU ;).

True. I don't think there is much of a difference between Brookings or Ames. But the recruiting to a major D1 program is a lot easier than mid or low major.

Here is the website story from GoJacks.com  on the hiring of TJ Otzelberger

http://www.gojacks.com/news/2016/4/14/mens-basketball-otzelberger-named-jackrabbit-head-coach.aspx?path=mbball

SDSU has to do better on all our coaching salaries. We are still dealing with a D2 mindset and it was clear to me that this is still a problem when Justin Sell, our AD stated that he had a committee of people working on a finding a Nagy replacement long before he left. He further stated that when ever a coach is successful, it means change and you have to be ready for it. These are not his exact words but a paraphrase. This is what we were not prepared for as fans, Nagy leaving, but he did. We are very fortunate to find TJ who in his introductory speech asked a litany of questions and he concluded that all these things we can do and will do. Hopefully he is able to pick up where Nagy left off.

Ryan Miller from SD is or was an Associate Head Coach at UNLV and was in the running for the job at SDSU. All of  sudden he faded from the SDSU race, and no one seems to know the story, but options at UNLV may have been what he wanted more than the SDSU job, His brother Mike is an NBA player and close to Labrone James.  George Karl is a very familiar old face and appears to be dropping out and Ryan will be the head coach. This is a rumor that has been floating around message boards.
