ORU @ Texas Tech

16 hits and no errors for the good guys - a winning combination!  TTU commits four errors, which proved to be the Red Raiders' undoing.

Game two of the "M. Ray Gregg Classic" is tomorrow afternoon.  :wasntme:

how big a win???

Coach Sutton breaks his twitter silence of almost 4 years to congratulate the coaches and team.  (might need to update that photo while he's at it)

Big time win for @ORUBaseball at # 12 Texas Tech ! Congrats to a great staff and team !

Ha! I noticed Scott's tweet last night and mentioned to my son that it had been years since he had been on Twitter.

Great win by the baseball team last night. Let's win again tonight.

game 2 of the mid-week mini-series is underway.   heard the Tech coach in their radio pre-game....gave ORU zero credit for last night.  it was all about what Tech did not do.

Well....the Red Raiders did commit four errors....still, it's not sportsmanlike to at least give a worthy opponent like ORU some credit....oh what the heck...let's beat them again today!.....GO BLUE!.... :nerd:

like early in last night's game, double plays are hampering the ORU offense.

Tech plates one with the help of walk, HBP, and wild pitch....2-1 Tech thru 3

Edit: and right on cue, ORU hits into another DP....2-1 middle of 4th

bunt em over over or start the runner...

4-1 TT. We had bases-loaded with no outs in the top of the fifth but scored no runs. Bummer.

This is a legitimate question:  does ORU lead the nation in men-left-on-base?

I can't recall a team that got so many guys on, but struggled so mightily getting them over.

Unless, of course, it was last year's team...

Final: 7-4 Tech (Whatley with a 3 run homer in the ninth)

they play for the big inning.  more aggression on the base paths and team speed is needed.  Coach Folmer said in the pre-season preview that they were moving in that direction.....let's hope so, because you are right ---- lots of men left on and lots of double plays hit into today.

all in all a good effort coming away with a win in Lubbock, but today could have been a lot more interesting with some timely hitting.

Sounds like ORU could easily have scored 10 or more today with some timely hitting.....oh well....we will take a split against a top 12 team on the road like Texas Tech..... :nerd:
