ORU vs. SIUE

Old Titan

Recommended Posts

ORU wins the first game of a doubleheader Friday afternoon, 6-2 over Southern Illinois-Edwardsville, under cloudy skies with temps in the 40's.  Trujillo with the win, Garza the 3-inning save, and Brandy with a solo shot.

Can only imagine how chilly the nightcap is going to be, but it's just nice to get these games in considering the 10-day weather outlook.

Reminds me of how life-long Californian Larry Cochell would dress for this time of year when he was coaching ORU baseball in the early '80's - dude would pack on about four complete sets of thermal underwear.

Made him look like a little bitty Michelin Man.

ORU battles through a drizzling, freezing, miserable night to a 12-0 lead, before settling on a 12-7 final to sweep the doubleheader.

Giller with the win in just 5 innings of work, Sequeira with a 3-run jack, and Mason Mantle (distant cousin to The Mick) with a 2-RBI double in his first D-1 at-bat.

Other than the weather, that's a pretty good day at the ol' ball park!

ORU completes 3-game sweep of SIUE with 13-3 win Saturday.

5-1 record to open the season is the best start for ORU since 2009.

Pretty fortunate to get in six home games the past two weeks with the weather the way it's been locally.

TheEagleman is really glad to see that ORU is off to a fine 5-1 start this season....looks like we may have something to cheer about this spring because our men's basketball team has a bleak outlook right now.....Trujillo and Giller look like a great 1-2 punch and we appear to have some guys who can use the lumber...oh yeah, they use metal bats now.....still the Good Guys looking good.....
