NDSU at ORU

The ladies never trailed and win in a rout, 67-41 over the Bison at the Mabee.  Good energy, solid team play and strong defense throughout.

NDSU- only 31.9% shooting and 19 turnovers
NDSU's Brooke LeMar, their standout guard and the Summit's leading scorer (19.8 ppg), held to just 10 points (2-15 FG).

For us:
Vicky with another great game- 13 points, 18 rebounds, 3 blocks, 3 assists.  Her 19th double-double.
Dorka Balla, out of a shooting slump in a big way (5-8 FG, 3-3 threes). 18 points, played with confidence.

Love the way we're playing and competing and the results are there, 3 straight wins and lots of positives and positive momentum as we move toward the end of the regular season.

13-12 overall, 7-5 in the Summit.

The Summit race is tight, and after tonight's games, the race for the top 3 got even tighter.  We won, IUPUI won at IPFW, and South Dakota State lost at Denver, so the top 5 are:
South Dakota 9-2
SDSU 7-4

Western Illinois 7-4

IUPUI 7-4
ORU 7-5

A half game out of second place with 4 to play.  We've beaten everyone ahead of us except SDSU.  We've got them at home this Friday, where we've been perfect in Summit games going 6-0 so far.  We're done with South Dakota.  We still have to go to both Western and IUPUI.  That trip is after the SDSU game.  We close out the regular season at home against IPFW.

The ladies' have really made strides throughout the year. The defense last night, especially Jordan Doyle on their hot shot Senior point guard, was outstanding! Vicky was solid, as usual. And, Dorka and Atoe are scoring the ball.

Honestly, the final score (26 point margin) didn't indicate the thorough beat down we gave the Bizon!

It "seems" to me that the type of team that Misti is building is going to give Summit League teams, major fits. Our athleticism made NDSU look downright silly, last night.

What was fun last night was watching players from our men's team watching the game. They really got into it. And they were especially jazzed by Vicky's stellar play.

The women did a GREAT job. I don't know what happened on the road with all of those losses; maybe it just took time to jell. They're much more aggressive and better on defense. I hate it that the season is almost over, and we're losing so many to graduation!

The taking time to "jell" part (in my opinion) is a product of lots of new faces. Not only the freshmen (Doyle, Ihim, Gilbert, etc.), but also plugging in Vicky, who sat out last year. That's 4 of your top 7 players, not being on the team last year. Lots of moving parts.
