BlueGold
We win 63-62, beating Eastern Michigan in a gritty, not-so-pretty game this afternoon at the Mabee Center. We showed a lot of fight, coming back from down five at halftime and by as much as seven in the second half. Still, we almost gave the game away with turnovers and missed free throws, but thankfully EMU shot the ball poorly from everywhere and we held on for the win. I'm liking how we're getting contributions both offensively and defensively from almost our entire active roster. Nine of the 10 players we played scored and had at least one rebound and eight of the 10 had at least one steal. Vicky McIntyre with a team-high 16 points and 15 rebounds. The double-double is her seventh in nine games and ties her for the lead in D-1. The 15 rebounds are just a smidge under her NCAA-leading 15.4 per game. She also had six blocks, which boosts her NCAA-best average per game to 4.78. If she'd not gotten into foul trouble, which has been her bugaboo this season so far, and played more than 27 minutes, well, her numbers and our margin of victory would've likely been even better. It's our third straight win, improving our record to 5-4. We've got a week off for finals before we host Grand Canyon on Friday, Dec. 12th. A nice win and a great effort by our Golden Eagles!! ORUJason
We needed a player like Vicki McIntyre a few years back when Kevi was in her prime.
oruvoice
I wonder if our Sports Information department can go back and look at the game film, as I think Vicki had more then 6 blocked shots. There was one trip down the floor in the second half, where she block 3 shots on the same possession. I may be wrong, but I could have sworn she had at least 10 blocked shots. At least, it seemed that way...
