BlueGold Posted November 1, 2014 Share Posted November 1, 2014 Halloween was a treat for ORU volleyball fans as the ladies win 3-2 over Western Illinois on Senior Night at the Aerobics Center, rallying after losing the first two sets to sweep the next three and take the match! The set scores were 25-27, 24-26, 25-16, 25-22, 15-11. It's the first time in eight matches this season that we've won after losing the first two sets. It was a true team effort, with a number of players contributing both offensively and defensively in the victory. Laura Milos led the Golden Eagles with 15 kills, the 15th time that the frosh has led the team in kills in 24 matches. She added four aces and seven digs. Jovana Poljasevic had a great match, pounding out 14 kills with no errors on 20 attack attempts for an unreal .700 hitting percentage. She also had three aces and three total blocks. Sara Pope, our only senior, was honored before the match, then went out and posted a double-double with 12 kills and 10 digs. https://twitter.com/bfreeland/status/528338409467568129/photo/1 Other Golden Eagle standouts: Lucija Bojanjac- our setter extraordinaire, had 50 assists, the sixth time this season she's had 50 or more in a match, and chipped in with three kills, 13 digs and two total blocks Shelby Cox- nine kills, hit .353 McKenna Qualls- eight kills, six digs, two total blocks and an ace off the bench The win evens our overall record at 12-12 and we improve to 6-5 in the Summit. We remain undefeated at home at 5-0, all in conference play. We continue the current four-match homestand this Sunday against IPFW at noon. Super comeback win, Golden Eagles!!
