BlueGold
Oh the suspense but happy times as the ladies squeak by the Leathernecks of Western Illinois on the road today, winning in five sets 25-22, 25-21, 22-25, 15-25, 15-13. We certainly made it interesting after going up two sets to none. The fifth set was crazy. We went up 4-1 early on three kills from McKenna Qualls and one from Laura Milos, and then were up 6-3 before Western rallied to tie it 7-all. Four more ties came and the set was 11-all when we scored consecutive points on a Jovana Poljasevic kill and a setting error by the Leathernecks to go up 13-11. WIU tied it again at 13-all on a kill and a service ace. ORU called time out and came back with a kill by Milos to give us match point at 14-13 and we closed it out, winning the match on an ace by Qualls. Golden Eagle stats: Laura Milos-- a team-high 21 kills; she added 12 digs, 2 aces and 3 blocks Sara Pope-- 18 kills, 12 digs and a block McKenna Qualls-- 8 kills, 7 digs and 2 aces Shelby Cox-- 7 kills Jovana Poljasevic-- 6 kills and a team-best 4 blocks Lucija Bojanjac-- 54 assists, 10 digs, 2 kills and an ace Maggie DiPronio-- wore the libero jersey and had a team-leading 13 digs It's our first Summit road win and improves our record to 10-11 and 4-4 in conference play. Five of our next six matches are at home, all in conference, starting this Friday (Oct. 24th) against South Dakota. We're 3-0 this season (all Summit wins) at home in the Aerobics Center. Nice win Eagles!!
