Nice comeback win for the ladies today in beating IUPUI at the Aerobics Center.  Match scores were 15-25, 25-20, 19-25, 25-23, 15-13.

It was our second five-set match win of the season.  The other was at Arkansas.  It was our first five-set match win when we trailed 2-1 in sets.  It was also only the second time in nine matches this season that we won when we had a lower hitting percentage than our opponent.  Our win at Pepperdine was the other.

Laura Milos with a match-high 25 kills.  She added three service aces and six digs.  Sara Pope, who had only two kills with four errors in the first set, shook it off well, pounding out 15 kills with only one error in the next four sets to contribute 17 total kills.  She was also huge defensively in the match with a team-high 19 digs and led the team along with Shelby Cox with six total blocks.  Speaking of Cox, she had eight kills and came up big in the pivotal fifth set, first combining with McKenna Qualls on a key block to score a pivotal point for the Golden Eagles, making it 14-12 and giving ORU a match point.  She then had the match-winning kill after IUPUI scored a point to make it 14-13.

Our freshmen continue to impress and have played big roles in the team's successes so far this season.  Milos, Cox and Lucija Bojanjac have started all season, and Maggie DiPronio, whether starting or not, has become a reliable defensive presence and contributor.  Coming into this match, Milos ranked in the NCAA top twenty-five in kills (eighth), total attacks (ninth), kills per set (16th), attacks per set (18th) and points per set (23rd).  She's either first or second in all of those categories in the Summit.  Milos also has the most kills in a match this season for any Division 1 player with the 38 she had in the win at Arkansas last month.  Bojanjac leads the Summit in assists and assists per set and ranks 21st in the NCAA in assists.

The team is 8-9 overall and 2-2 in the Summit.

Next up:  At Fort Wayne next Friday, October 10th.

Way to go Eagles!!
