BlueGold
The season begins on Saturday, August 16th at Central Arkansas. The ladies are coming off a record-setting 2013 when they won a school-record 15 matches (going 15-4-1 overall). Here are some tidbits as we head into 2014: - College Sports Madness has five Golden Eagles on their preseason Summit All-Conference Teams. Forward Kayla Keller, our leading returning scorer (8 goals, 2 assists) and defender Kaily Cox are on the First Team. Forward Megan Giles, midfielder Ashley Martin and goalkeeper Maddie Rhodes made the Second Team. We are tied with Denver, the league favorites, with five players chosen in total for both the First and Second Teams. - Rhodes was fantastic when she took over in goal for an injured Helen Erb in the sixth match of last season, going 11-3-1 with a school-record 0.67 goals against average. - The schedule is challenging to say the least. We play four schools in CSM's Top 44 (#18 Texas Tech, #27 Denver, #28 Baylor and #42 Utah). Tech (#17) and Denver (#25) are also ranked in the national coaches' preseason poll. We also have road matches at SMU, OU and TU. Um... - Seven of our top 10 scorers are back, but Cox is the only returning defender to have averaged full match minutes. Go Eagles!!
