Harcum?....that's a very low level Juco school here in the Philly area about a half mile from Villanova U....didn't we sign some stiff center a few years back from Harcum who was so weak and skinny that he never played for ORU and transferred out within a year?....can't remember his name but TheEagleman isn't sure he wants any more players from Harcum....

Class 6A boys basketball: Aaron Young's 3-pointer gives Edmond Memorial the win

If I am reading things right, Young will have three years of eligibility. He graduated in 2013 from Edmond Memorial - who won the Oklahoma 6-A championship.

Aaron is the younger brother of former Drake guard, Josh Young. From what I hear Aaron is a 5'10 high motor defensive minded PG who plays with a lot of passion. Not a great shooter but again his strength is in his energy and enthusiasm on the court. He is supposedly the best guard on a Eastern Oklahoma State team who made it to the NJCAA national tournament. Hard to tell anything this early on but it's nice to see him give so much love to the program –– seems like a good kid.

More info:

OK Hoops: He played at Edmond Memorial so there's probably no better website to do research about him.

Edmond Memorial vs Edmond North (2012): Young is #20

Edmond Memorial vs Midwest City (2013): #20

Side by side photo with 6'1 brother, Josh Young

Also if you guys don't already follow him on Twitter, give @Sam_Duren a follow. He's the guy who started OK Hoops and is constantly talking about Oklahoma High School hoops (where we are increasing recruiting from).

Sounds like Young is a strong contender to start at PG for ORU next season considering the scattershot play we got his year from Singleton and Jackson..... :nerd:

Ben Berry: 6'3 guard played his freshman year at USAO, where he was named the Sooner Athletic Conference POY,  before transferring to Northern Oklahoma College in Enid. This article from January 2014 says he sat out last year with a broken foot.

Berry, the Sooner Athletic Conference freshman of the year in 2012 at the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma, had transferred to NOC Enid hoping to be the last piece of a national tournament team. He could have gone to a four-year school and have three years of eligibility, but instead he chose to return to NOC Enid as a redshirt sophomore.

“I wanted to widen my options and get more looks, hopefully, from some bigger programs,’’ Berry said. “I’m definitely shooting for Division I.’’

He is encouraged by recent Jet stars Joe Smith (Wichita State), Wayne Runnels (Creighton) and Connor Brooks (Stephen F. Austin),, who have found their way to Division I rosters.

Other quote of interest:

“The reason I left USAO was a lack of will on the team,’’ he said. “The players didn’t want to win enough. Coach Shamburg promised me a structured program that would win games and work hard. That attracted me.’’

How he sees his game:

Berry is shooting 51.4 percent from three-point range and 57.6 percent from the field. He is averaging 7.1 rebounds per game.

“I really like to think that I can do a little bit of everything,’’ he said. “Lately, I’ve been shooting a lot of threes. I don’t know how coach thinks about that, but I’ve been making a lot of them. I feel I should be an all-around player instead of just being a three-point shooter or an insider shooter.’’

Here's a video interview of Berry while still at USAO: In the Saddle with Ben Berry

good info SOLO GOLD...he sounds like a gym rat type guy.  the 3 pt shooting jumped out at me because ORU struggled much of the year from deep.

i guess Coach Sutton was not satisfied with his roster.  it looks like a couple of guys won't be back.

Thanks to all you "insiders" with this great info....it's very exciting to learn about these players...I too was wondering about the roster size for next year since Mason and Glover were the only seniors....I'm not knowledgeable enough to speculate, but who could possibly not return next year? Are players told the team is going in another direction? Are scholarships taken away?

Does anyone know Henderson's academic status? Could he possibly be one who does not return?

My inside sources said 3 players have asked to leave already. She said she cannot release names at this moment, however an announcement will be made soon.
