edit: read Ok st sched wrong.  i thought it had North Texas listed as an MGM game.

what a mess....

what happens if an 8th team can't be found at this late date?  could an Ok St / ORU game happen to make up for the lost game?

Travis Ford & Mike Holder would never agree to that. Their animus towards the Sutton family borders on the pathological.

you are probably right ORUTerry, but i was trying to figure out what the tourney might do w/only a 7 team field.

the two OSUs would lose a home game to whoever that 8th team was and two of the mid-majors would lose a game in vegas. (i think that's right?)

one fix might be ORU plays one in vegas and Ok state adds a home game after vegas to the schedule versus ORU.  (OR st would add a later home date to the other mid-major that lost a game in vegas)

So ORU would play Tulsa, @OR st, Lousiana in vegas, and @Ok St

Ok St is at SC 12/6 and at Memphis 12/13

ORU is home for Mo St 12/7 and NMSU 12/13

i'm guessing it's finals week for both schools, but Wed 12/10 might work for both teams.

probably a ridiculous longshot....let's hope the organizers find an 8th team.

Anyone know what this could be?

I'll tell you what is:  it's a pretty lame tease - so vague that WHATEVER it is, it now probably won't live up to

expectations.

Without any details, I've already dreamed up things like a new state-of-the-art arena, or hosting an NCAA regional, or ORU joining The Valley, or any number of things it won't be.

Maybe it will be the long-needed replacement of all the seats in the Mabee Center, but even THAT may be wishful thinking.

Bottom line:  don't float something like that Tweet out there and not give either 1. A hint of what it might be, or 2. A hint of when it might be announced.

Otherwise, you get ridiculous predictions from goofballs like me.

I told you all this event was screwed up from the beginning, and now it's confirmed (from the organizer's website):

HEAVYWEIGHT BRACKET AT MGM GRAND

November 24

Oregon State vs. Oklahoma State – 5:30 p.m. PT (ESPN3)

Auburn vs. Tulsa – 8:00 p.m PT (ESPNU)

November 26

Heavyweight Consolation - 6:00 p.m. PT (ESPN3)

Heavyweight Championship - 8:30 p.m. PT (ESPN2)

MIDDLEWEIGHT BRACKET AT MGM GRAND

November 24

Milwaukee vs. Louisiana-Lafayette – 3:00 p.m. PT

November 25

Louisiana-Lafayette vs. Oral Roberts – 6:00 p.m.

November 26

Oral Roberts vs. Milwaukee – 3:30 p.m. PT

OPENING GAMES

November 14

Milwaukee at Auburn

November 15

Tulsa at Oral Roberts

November 17

Louisiana-Lafayette at Tulsa

November 21

Milwaukee at Oklahoma State

Louisiana-Lafayette at Auburn

Oral Roberts at Oregon State

There is now officially NO fourth "middleweight" team.  Alcorn State has released their schedule, and they're playing in the Sun Bowl Tournament in El Paso instead.  Oklahoma State and Oregon State each only got one mid-major home game out of this fiasco, and Tulsa has to play one of their "middleweight" games on the road at ORU.  The three mid-majors are now playing a round-robin in Vegas instead of a bracket, which means ORU will definitely be playing a very tough Milwaukee team in addition to the previously announced "first-rounder" with Louisiana-Lafayette.  And the turnaround for ORU in Vegas is ridiculous:  a 6:00pm game on the 25th followed by a 3:00pm game the next day.  Milwaukee, ORU's opponent in that second game, will be coming off a full day's rest after their first game on the 24th.

ORU (and every other team) should demand a hotel refund/free show tickets/casino credit/etc. for following through with this two-bit joke of a "tournament"....
