ORU drops game 1 today vs. Louisville....a 7-3 loss....all the runs coming on a pair of Schiller hrs.....Torrance started and got hammered.....good news is that Gonzo came on in relief and pitched a scoreless inning....perhaps he will be able to start next weekend or we could see him throw another relief inning in the next few days......East Carolina on tap tomorrow...the Pirates are usually pretty good...not to be confused with the ones from Pittsburgh........

Eagles drop game two in Alabama, falling to East Carolina 4-2. Bowen pitches well, but an unearned run and a three run rally by the Pirates (walk, single, double, single - all with two outs) sends Bowen to his first loss. Eagles recorded ten hits, but missed many opportunities to score, stranding runners at third in at least three innings. Cam Schiller hit his third HR of the two-game weekend, and was at the plate in the ninth with two outs and two runners on, but his drive was caught near the warning stripe.

ORU's record stands at 6-7, but don't give up on this team yet. Bowen and a healthy Gonzalez can hang with anyone, the infield defense may be among the best in school history, and the bats should come around. The Summit is down this year (if that is possible), but ORU is the kind of team that no #1 seed will want to face in the NCAA tourney.

Sunday afternoon, the Eagles finish the Classic facing host Alabama.

Tough loss today against a very good East Carolina team....the Pirates will likely be in the NCAA tournament in June....we need to get the game vs. host Alabama tomorrow....won't be an easy task......

BIG win for the Golden Eagles in Tuscaloosa! ORU trailed 2-1 in the ninth, and was down to the final strike - but Chris Williams hit a two-out single with the bases loaded on an 0-2 count - and the Eagles grabbed a 3-2 win. Alex Gonzalez picked up the win after pitching a scoreless eighth and Matt Rush struck out the final Bama batter (the only one he faced) to snag the save. Lars Ligouri also came up big in the ninth, coming back from a 3-0 count to record the second out of the inning.

A win like this one could turn around a season! SWEET!
