theeagleman5
ORUAlum makes a good point....that would be like us scheduling TU in the middle of January....wouldn't be smart.....sounds like the Bison weren't ready for UND....that place must have really been rockin'.... ron
UND has been a bit of an anomaly against our Dakota schools. Didn't SDSU beat them handily one game and get whooped by 40 pts. the next? NDSU is still a team to be reckoned with, even with this loss at UND. As to the rivalry . . . while no one in the stands hurtled a frozen bison at the opposing team's cheerleaders, there was a pt. in the game where there was a little shoving that went on. The ref's chose to make light of it and only handed out a two-shot technical for each team if I recall correctly.

ORUTerry
Big games this weekend - especially SDSU at NDSU. We need the Bison to continue their domination of the Jackrabbits. A Bison win combined with a Golden Eagle win would put us up two games in the conference. I think NDSU has a 10 game winning streak against SDSU. TrueBlue82
A Bison win combined with a Golden Eagle win would put us up two games in the conference. Very big games for the conference title. We need both home teams to "hold serve". If we aren't "up two games" on SDSU after this weekend, we will likely need at least a split on the "Dakota States" roadie just to stay TIED for the conference lead. theeagleman5
Looks like that ORU at SDSU re-match on Feb. 2 is shaping up to be a huge regular season game....we could pretty much put a lock on the #1 seed with a victory in Brookings.....but if we lose....well, it's a toss up.... 89rabbit
See you in Brookings, should be a fun game on Feb. 2nd.
ORUalum
it's a long way out and a lot of games to be played, but it looks like ORU's higher RPI would give them the tie breaker should SDSU win out and ORU only loses at SDSU... Tiebreaker Procedures Tiebreaker procedures shall be used ONLY to determine seeds for the League tournament. Regular season standings shall stand. If there are multiple ties, the ties shall be broken in descending order. (i.e., a tie at the #1 position will be broken before any others). Once a tie is broken using the procedures below, it shall remain broken for purposes of all future comparisons.Two-team Tiebreaking Criteria. The following criteria should be applied (in order) to break ties between two teams:Results of head-to-head competition between the two tied teams.Comparison of each tied team's record against the team occupying the highest position in the standings continuing down through the standings until a team gains an advantage. When arriving at another group of tied teams while comparing records, use each team's record against the collective tied teams as a group (prior to that group's own tie-breaking procedure) rather than the performance against individual tied teams. If a tie still cannot be broken after applying criteria (1), (2) and (3), it will be broken by comparing each tied team's RPI (based upon the RPIRankings.com Report issued on the morning following the last regular season League game).Multiple-Team Tiebreaking Criteria. The following criteria should be applied to break ties between more than two teams:Results of each tied team's collective record against the other teams tied for the same position. If multiple ties still remain, then each tied team's record shall be compared to the team or group (if 2 or more are tied) occupying the highest position in the standings continuing down through the standings until a team gains an advantage. If the above results in two teams remaining, the two-team tiebreaker is used. ron
NDSU hits a 3-pt. shot with 4.1 seconds left to beat the Grizz 78-75.
theeagleman5
TheEagleman thought that Oakland would win that game....they now trail NDSU by 2 games for that 3rd spot.....and a huge win by SDSU at IPFW tonight.....gonna be a war at Brookings this Thursday night.... ron
I hope we help OU get one back against NDSU on Saturday because our interests happen to coincide on that day. The XDSU's also pllay each other one more time. That game would probably put Oakland in 3rd again. At this point though, there is no beating around the bush. The best teams have to keep winning and by that I mean primarily us. You don't come this far to lose a conference game. Our goals are higher than that and they are achievable. We have to be able to beat anyone we play from here on in.

tmh8286
Wow! Oakland loses to IUPUI tonight, 79-75. That's seven loses in the conference season. Who would have thought that would happen? Prior to tonight's game Oakland was 6-6, IUPUI 2-9. (Oakland was 6-6 going into last night, not 6-7. sorry for the goof. I KNEW that, don't know how I posted it wrong)
ORUTerry
I did not see that coming. Oakland seems to refuse (unable?) to play defense. It is hard to understand. They have the talent and athleticism, but can't seem to defend.
theeagleman5
Who would have thought the Grizz would lose at IUPUI tonight....the Jags had lost 7 in a row.....figured Oakland had turned the corner but obviously not.....they have too many issues....it will come down to the big 3.....this is a big weekend for ORU....go blue! ORUalum
anybody know why they played on a wednesday? if ORU can win the league, having Oakland in the 6 or 7 seed for the tournament would be huge.
