Kampe believes Oakland, picked to finish second behind Oral Roberts, could be better than last season.

"The last two years, we looked like Michigan State," Kampe said in reference to his tall front line that included the departed 6-foot-11 Keith Benson and 6-9 Will Hudson (combined to average 30 points and 17.5 rebounds). "We are going to be much different.

"The pace will be similar. The shots will be coming from different spots. We have so many guys who can shoot the three. At times we'll have four position players who will shoot the three."

Kampe said he expects his team to attempt 35-45 3-pointers a game. Last season, Oakland averaged 22.

Oakland, 17-1 in league last season, lost to Texas in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

And while he lost his big frontline, Kampe does return three starters plus Blake Cushingberry, who missed last season with a knee injury.

Reggie Hamilton, used primarily as a shooting guard last year, averaged 17.6 points. This season, however, he'll move to the point.

"A huge part of the offense will be getting points in transition," he said. "Our goal is to be the top scoring team in the country. The only difference will be how we go about it."
