We're all gun shy from years of dealing with the idiots at TU and Arkansas.

I've been on dozens of fan message boards - those two are EASILY the nastiest I've ever seen. Just plain angry for anger's sake.

Hopefully after a few weeks, games, whatever it takes, UCA wont be lumped in to all that is Arkansas! We try to separate ourselves a little bit!

Not to worry - I was referring to the Razorbacks.

Nothing like dealing with those redneck, leather-lunged, 300-pounders - and their husbands. :*

Fairly accurate description I'd say.

As one of those ORU alumni from Texas (grew up in Southland country very close to the Lamar campus) I'm very excited about the move now that it's official. From a fan perspective, I was still kind of hanging on to the Summit even though honestly the league hasn't been the same after Valpo left.

Lots more tradition, history, fan involvement (obviously), rivalries, better facilities, a REAL baseball conference, and you don't have to take a snowmobile and fistfight polar bears to make it to the basketball tournament in Houston.

Also, I think it's funny that people are making an issue of both conferences current RPI standings. Low major conference RPI is meaningless. The Summit was basically being carried by Oakland's high RPI, and ORU and IUPUI's OOC schedules. In any given season, you can take the low-major conferences (usually RPI's 18-31), put the names in a hat and just pick 'em. Does anyone really think the Summit is 8 spots better than the Southland, or better than the Sun Belt, Big Sky or Patriot League?? Please.
