tmh8286
. . . it could be worse. Niagra University's sports teams are known as the "Purple Eagles". Imagine voice going into his wind-up: "And now, here's the line-up for your ORU PUR-PLE EAGLES!!!!"
vcboy2000
I think people have more of a problem with how friendly Eli looks than ORU being the "golden eagles". That, and how most people outside of Oklahoma think he is a chicken.
ORUIsbig
I like the golden eagle. He is great for a mascot.. But truthfully, there is only one Icon i think of when it comes to ORU Basketball.....

ORU Eli
I prefer the Titan but then again...I don't know what I would have dressed up as if we were still the Titans so Golden Eagles, other than being very common, is just fine with me. MadAdder
I favor changing the name to "The ORU Shrieking Eels", but that won't happen. I'm surprised that "The Purple Eagles" is a valid mascot when you've got people getting on the University of Iowa for painting the visiting football team's locker room pink. EagleFanatic
I have a feeling the shrieking eel would not be much fun for the kids to dance with at a time out.
