He is listed as playing the Athlete's First AAU team out of OKC

Roster: http://fivestarbasketball.com/teams/athlete-s-first-17u

There are some nice players on that team.

The Athlete's First web site lists Jonathan Bluitt as a "specialist in basketball development".

Center from Kansas commits to ORU

By Mike Brown World Sports Writer

Good recruiting news came in a large package Sunday for the Oral Roberts basketball team.

Jorden Kaufman, a 6-foot-11 center from Andover (Kan.) Central High School, committed after visiting the ORU campus over the weekend. He said he would sign in November with the Golden Eagles.

“(ORU’s) close to home and it’s a very good fit for me,” Kaufman said in a phone interview.

“I’ll be subbing as a freshman (in 2012-13) and playing a lot (behind ORU’s 6-foot-9 Damen Bell-Holter), and my sophomore year, I’ll be the big man on the team,” Kaufman said. “(Recruiting coordinator Kyan Brown) said I’ll have the reins passed down to me.”

Amazing how quickly this stuff gets out these days: from rumor, to announcement, to media confirmation - all in the span of a few hours. A November signing of a freshman big man? Great news!!

This is a great get for us. Based on his size and frame, he sounds like a kid we can build around. Looking forward to watching his senior year production this season.

Nice pick up for ORU....we sure needed a big man for next season and Jorden is a wide body at 6-11 250......Let's hope that Scott Sutton is still around to coach him.....

I'm very excited that this kid is going to be a Golden Eagle and I hope we can figure out a way to keep up with him through his senior season.

Interesting connections from his Athletes First summer league team...

  • Shaquille Morriss c/o '13 (another player ORU has offered) played along side Jorden this past summer.
  • Morriss is connected to yet another player ORU is interested in (Aaron Anderson c/o '12 - mentioned earlier in this thread), via his high school team; Edmond Santa Fe HS

I wonder what if any impact it'll make on their decisions as we go into the November signing period.

KAUFMAN-240x300.jpg

Andover Central forward/center Jorden Kaufman committed to Oral Roberts over breakfast with coach Scott Sutton this morning in Tulsa, where he was on his official visit to the school. I spoke with Jorden this evening and the 6-foot-11 senior seemed relieved to have ended his recruiting process. Kaufman picked the Golden Eagles over Evansville, Northern Colorado and Jacksonville.

“I really just wanted to get it over with so I could enjoy my senior year,” Kaufman said. “I talked to my parents on Saturday night and told them that I was leaning towards ORU … I just liked everything about the school and the team.”

...

“He’s got good ball skills and can face up and shoot the ball really well,” Andover Central coach Jesse Herrmann said. “He hasn’t reached anywhere close to what his ceiling is athletically … Oral Roberts gets a player who is just going to keep getting better.”

You can't coach 6'11" and 245 lbs. It's good to hear that he has had a great summer and is continuing to improve. I'm looking forward to him signing on the dotted line in November. He will have a great opportunity to contribute all 4 years.

Edmond Santa Fe’s Aaron Anderson to visit Nevada

Edmond Santa Fe basketball player Aaron Anderson will get a good look at the West Coast in the coming weeks. The 6-foot-2 combo guard is taking an official visit to Nevada this weekend, and is expected to visit Fresno State as well, Wolves coach Shawn Schenk said Wednesday.

...

Nevada just received a commitment from a combo guard on Tuesday, but the team contacted Schenk to let him know that commitment had no bearing on Anderson’s recruitment.

“They said Aaron is still a guy they want,” Schenk said. “They were here the first day they could be out visiting players, and so was Oral Roberts.”

Anderson was also being recruited by Tulsa, but the Golden Hurricane recently got a commitment from Edmond Memorial guard James Woodard.

Anderson’s strength and long body, particularly in how he uses those two features on defense, are big selling points in the recruiting game.

“He’s long and athletic, and he can really defend,” Schenk said. “He’s one of the most competitive kids I’ve had since I’ve been here.”

Kyan Brown has been a road warrior this fall, and it's already bearing fruit in the commitment of Jorden Kaufman. He's fun to follow on Twitter - full of enthusiasm!

It helps to have a young guy who is hungry to make a name for himself. He works hard and that will bring results.

To have Kyan and Hankins on the road at the same time will make a huge difference. They do a very good job of making sure they are going after guys that they have a realistic chance of getting.

Edmond Santa Fe’s Aaron Anderson gets offer from Nevada

(excerpt)

An official visit to the University of Nevada produced a scholarship offer for Edmond Santa Fe senior combo guard Aaron Anderson over the weekend.

“Aaron really liked it out there, had a great time meeting the team,” Santa Fe coach Shawn Schenk said. “As a coach and a player, that’s really important, because you want to see what the other players are like, and how they interact with each other. Aaron had a great time.”

The trip to Nevada was Anderson’s first official visit among the trio of schools that have offered him. Schenk said Anderson will visit Oral Roberts and Fresno State in October prior to the early signing period, which runs Nov. 9-16 for basketball.
