Chance gave up the winning run in the 8th inning in a 3-2 Reading loss to Harrisburg last night....he took his first loss of the season and is now 0-1 with a 4.66 ERA....it's been a tough season for Chapman....hopefully, he fares better in the 2nd half..... :worried:

TheEagleman is hoping to get to see Chance pitch this Sunday... I will be heading over to Mercer Park in Trenton with my two grandsons to watch the Reading Phillies take on the Trenton Thunder (Yankees AA) in a Sunday afternoon game.... ;)

Another poor outing for Chapman last night as he gave up 2 runs on 2 hits and a walk in 1/3 of an inning....Reading lost to Trenton 8-6.....Chance is now 0-1 and ERA has ballooned up to 5.49....his control just isn't what it used to be also...in 19 innings of work this year he has 12 walks and only 10 SOs....TheEagleman is headed over to Trenton tomorrow afternoon to watch the final game of the series....Trenton (Yankees AA affiliate) has won the first two games this weekend.... :worried:

Eagleman, you may get a chance to see Chance pitch tonight (pun intended). There's a rule of thought that when a pitcher has a bad outing, you try to get him back into the next available opportunity to get the "bad taste out of his mouth". I hope your trip there gets you the ability to evaluate Chance's pitching for yourself. Have fun with the grandkids.

Thanks, Bogus...I had the boys out to the pool on a hot 92 degree day here in Suburban Philly.....just dropped them off at their dad's.....I will pick them up tomorrow about noon for the game and they are very excited...the boys love baseball even more than TheEagleman....they are total diehards and love going to see the big league Philles but also the minor league teams as well.....should be a fun day and hoping we get a chance to see Chapman.... :P

My bad....didn't read the post close enough to see that it was tomorrow. Hope that everyone has a great time. Looking forward to the on-the-field report tomorrow night.

Reading Phillies beat the Trenton Thunder this afternoon, 4-0....the Phils' starter went 8 innings giving up only 3 hits and then the closer came to finish it off on a hot 92 degree day....so no opportunity for Chance to get into the game....TheEagleman did see him pre-game signing some autographs when he was walking down to the bullpen but couldn't get down there quick enough to chat with him...I was gonna try to wait around after the game before the players got on the bus the the grandsons as well as myself were whipped after a long hot day in the sun.....maybe next time.... :)

Good news bad news..... the bad news is Chappy gave up a 3 run HR in last night's game at Erie, PA but the Phillies scored 8 runs in the next inning to give Chance his first win of the season 12-9, which is the good news....he also struck out 2 and gave up a walk in one inning of work....Chapman's record evens at 1-1 but his ERA is up to 6.59.....he needs to really pick it up during the last 6 weeks of the season....rumors have the big league Phillies close to a trade for Houston's ace Ray Oswalt.....the Phils would be giving up pitcher J.A. Happ and prospects....maybe one of them will be Chance Chapman....could he be headed to the Astros?....

Well....no trade for Chance Chapman this week and some good news on the field last night as Chance had one of his best outings in a 7-6 Reading win vs. Akron.....the Phils' starter got bombed early and Chance come on to hold the fort with 3.1 innings of shutout ball....he gave up only 1 hit and had 4 Ks.....dropped his ERA down to 5.60 and Readng came from behind to win in the 9th on a walk off hit....they have now won 5 of 6 games this week and are on a roll....let's hope that Chappy keeps this up and finishes the season strong.... :)

Chance pitched two more scoreless innings in a 15-7 Reading Phillies win at Richmond last Wednesday night....dropping his ERA to 5.10......he needs more nights like that between now and the end of the season.... :)

Chance got banged around in the 9th yesterday for 2 runs and 3 hits in mop up duty of an 11-3 Reading win....his ERA back up to 5.49.....Chapman isn't having a very good year....really inconsistant....this can't bode well for his future at 26 yrs old.... :(

oh boy....Chance gives up a 9th inning HR in the top of the 9th inning last night and takes the loss against Trenton, 5-4....Chapman had pitched a scoreless top of the 8th inning and recorded 3 Ks and then Reading scored 4 in the home half to tie the game at 4 all....but couldn't hold the Thunder in the 9th....he is now 1-2 with a 5.46 ERA....ouch!.... :worried:

Chance pitched 3 innings in relief of the starter in an 8-4 Reading loss at Erie last night....he gave up 3 hits and 1 run....no walks and 2 Ks....ERA down to 5.23 after this one....not a bad performance for Chappy but the R-Phillies are not doing well this season...have had several of their best players called up to AAA in the past 2 months including ace Vance Worley and star OF Domonic Brown who is actually up with the big Phillies now and 1B Mike Rizzotti....they won't be making the playoffs this year....not sure what next year will bode for Chapman....this is his 4th season as a pro and he's only in AA and not having a great year.....if he can finish strong, maybe he still gets a shot at Triple-A next year.... :worried:

Chapman had two strong outings for Reading this week....last Wednesday night he came on in early relief when the starter got bombed and was on the mound when Reading took the lead back in a 7-6 win....Chance went 2.2 scoreless innings giving up just one hit and striking out a pair....the win evened his record at 2-2....then last night Chappy pitched two more scoreless innings with 3 Ks in an 11-9 Phillies loss....this drops his ERA down to 4.58..... :)

Another not so good outing for Chance on Thursday night in a 15-10 Reading loss vs. Akron....Chapman came in to relieve the starter who got bombed and gave up 4 hits and 3 runs in 2 2/3 innings of work....his ERA ballons up to 4.95 and his record remains at 2-2.... :(

Not such bad outing for Chance last night is a 6-4 Phillies win at Richmond........Chapman came in for the starter and went 3 innings giving up one hit and one lone run...his ERA drops to 4.81.... :)

Chapman threw a scoreless inning in relief of the starter as Reading beat the Binghamton Mets last night by 9-1...Chance allowed no baserunners and had one K....he is still 2-2 and ERA drops to 4.70.... :)

Chapman started on Sunday and went 3 2/3 innings giving up 4 hits and 2 runs in a 4-2 loss vs the Binghamton Mets...Chance was not involved in the decision and his ERA is now 4.72....we are now heading into the last week of the season... :geek:
