Tulsa, Okla. ? The Oral Roberts University track and field duo of Shaun Smith and Prince Mumba are currently ranked first and second, respectively, in the NCAA for the men's 800-meter run, according to trackshark.com. As a team, the Golden Eagle men broke into the Trackwire 25 this week, tying with Indiana University for 21st position.

Both Smith and Mumba sprinted to the top of the NCAA's list for their 1-2 finish in the 800-meter run at last weekend's New Mexico Invitational in Albuquerque, Nex Mexico. Smith won the race in 1:47.76, while Mumba crossed the finish line just .14 of a second later. Albany's Gered Burns (1:49.24) rounds out the NCAA's top three, with a time almost a second-and-a-half behind Mumba.

According to the International Association of Athletics Federations (www.iaaf.org), Smith and Mumba currently rank among the world's best, amateur or professional, in the 800-meter run. As of the January 31st rankings, Smith had climbed to #11 in the world, with Mumba sitting right behind him at #12. Yuriy Borzakovskiy of Russia holds the world's #1 ranking with a time of 1:45.82.

Andretti Bain is the third Golden Eagle track athlete to be ranked on one of the NCAA's Top 10 lists, sitting in the eighth spot for the men's 400-meter dash. He did so after winning the New Mexico Invitational's 400-meter dash with a time of 46.89 seconds.

This Golden Eagles Top 25 ranking comes after a series of very successful meets. At the Missouri Invitational., ORU had 14 top three finishers, seven event champions, and broke three meet and school records. The following weekend at the Razorback Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark., ORU placed seven individuals and one relay in the top three of their respective events, with one event champion.

This past weekend at the New Mexico Invitational, the Golden Eagles continued their excellence with 10 individuals placing in the top three with three individual champions.

Florida State sits atop the Trackwire 25 for the second straight week, with Arkansas, Wisconsin, Texas, and LSU rounding out the top five spots.
