ORUTerry
ORU lands basketball commitment By MIKE BROWN World Sports Writer 3/12/2009 8:06 PM (excerpt) The Oral Roberts men’s basketball team has received a verbal commitment from North Carolina 6-foot-2 combo guard Hunter McClintock. McClintock averaged about 10 points and five assists for the Patterson School in Lenoir, N.C., one of the nation’s top prep school programs. Patterson was 34-3 and ranked No. 1 nationally for part of the 2008-09 season, head coach Chris Chaney said. Chaney said McClintock will be a good fit for the Golden Eagles. “He’s very happy with his commitment and I think the ORU coaches are, too,” Chaney said. “(ORU head coach Scott Sutton) and (ORU assistant Chris Crutchfield) did an unbelievable job of recruiting him.”..... tmh8286
An outstanding four year point guard!! That's great!! A Google search returned many links on this guy. Looks like Kentucky was interested in him at one point. This guy appears to be an OUTSTANDING catch.

wakeflip1
I pulled this info from the Kentucky thread, who pulled it from another thread. This kid has been the topic of many schools. McClintock is from a very small town where he played his first three seasons for a 3A school. During these seasons, McClintock set/broke 6 state basketball records, yet not one of them was ever published in the newspaper..maybe someone out there has something against this kid? After leading his school to 3 straight conference championships and not getting the attention he deserved, he decided to move to Durham for his senior year to play at the 4A level to get his name out there. In NC 4A is the highest division in the state. McClintock joined the Northern Durham High School team that plays in the most competitive conference in the state. His senior year turned out to be an explosion. McClintock averaged 27.2 ppg, 6 assist, 5 reb, and shot 49% from the 3pt line. He had 3 games of 40+ pts including a 44 pt performance against the 2nd ranked team in the state of Virginia where he shot 8-11 from the 3 pt line, 10 games of 30+ pts including a 35 pt 8 assist performance against Durham Jordan where he was defended the entire game by UNC signee 6'5" Justin Watts. McClintock led his team to an upset championship in the conference tournament where he averaged 30 ppg. McClintock has led his NC Gaters AAU squad to 5 state championships including championships in the 17u and 19u division as the starting PG, while leading his 17u squad to a finalist place in nationals. An injury after his junior season hurt his exposure at big summer camps, but he recovered and bounced back to get his name on the market. As McClintock blew up the NC hs bball scene in his senior year, many powerhouse schools were our of scholarships to dish to the '08 class. NC State has asked McClintock to walk on next year. UNC has asked Hunter to hold off on any decisions while they wait to see what happens with Ty Lawson. He has received a handfull of offers from small-midmajor schools but is waiting on the big one to come. UK has recently become very serious with their communication with McClintock and has invited him to come to their Elite Camp in June. Above all of his attributes and statistics, the thing that sets him apart from the crowd is his determination to win. He settles for nothing less. He is the hardest worker I have ever seen, and doesn't accept losing. http://www.wildcatnation.net/forum/showthread.php?s=e07d67b33eed4ce41ea10e1d2e8073fa&t=41646&page=

ORUTerry
Wow.... how did we get in on this kid? I wonder if Chad Wilkerson (coaches hs basketball in NC) helped in any way? Do we have contacts at the Patterson School? (The Patterson School is one of the top basketball prep schools.) Didn't Jeremy Hazzell attend there?
