thebluehatman
Our ladies are very good, even though they beat Centenary by 21 points while using a men's ball the whole game. They should be in the top 25 by the end of December with the way they are playing.
Dr. Cornelius
Yeah, SDSU's women team is VERY good. Probably one of the best in that area of the country. They routinely beat larger schools like Wisconsin.
Bogus Smith
Yes, the SDSU ladies are the team to beat in this League. They are very good and, as Hatter stated, they should be ranked before the end of the OOC season this month. They have already beaten a Big Ten team (Illinois) and have been competitive in a number of other contests. We get them in Tulsa in our last homestand in February, so hopefully we can give them a game at that time. It will certainly give us an idea of how good we are going into the Tournament; however, SDSU will have the home crowd behind them in March. It wasn't a statement win so much as affirmation of what everybody already knew: The Jackrabbits don't take a backseat to anybody in the 10-team league and figure to make a serious push to reach the NCAA Division I tournament in their first year of eligibility. They've already beaten three teams this season that qualified for the Big Dance last year and have won 14 consecutive conference games. "The impression is consistent with what we thought - that the South Dakota State girls are a quality team," Golden Eagles coach Jerry Finkbeiner said. "They don't make too many mistakes." Yes, SDSU (8-1, 2-0) didn't commit a turnover in the first 14-plus minutes. But they were far less precise the rest of the way - finishing with 16. Still, the lead continued to grow, peaking at 34 late in the second half. Despite missing starters Maria Boever (illness) and Macie Michelson (hand), the Jacks cruised to an 18-1 edge and led 35-11 through 13 minutes. The opening onslaught began on the perimeter with three consecutive 3-pointers and then moved inside with forwards Ketty Cornemann and Kristin Rotert combining for 29 points in the first half. . . .
