Half warm. Half cold.

OK - based upon Voice's temperature gauge, I'm pretty confident that we'll see one Sunbelt team in the Mabee Center this year - and I'm guessing that it will be UALR or North Texas.  As for the 11-12 hour distance team... we'll have to keep working at it.

I never tire of reading these "want ad" websites for college basketball - seems like a bizarre way to build a schedule.

I guess I just always assumed these deals got done at The Final Four, or at coaching clinics - not through "The Thrifty Nickel".

I especially like Virginia Commonwealth touting the fact they lost three starters and an all-conference performer from last year, like that's a good thing.

"No, really - we suck!  Come play us!!"

I dunno about the other one but my guess is UTA. I would be happy to play UNT, SMU, or TCU but UTA could have the best team of the 4...they're in the top 3 teams, or at least have been, in the Southland and would make for fantastic exposure (especially since recent years' recruits have come from the south side of the metroplex) in the DFW market. We are quickly becoming a recognized mid-major...it would be a great thing for both teams to do a home and home.

Eli - I agree that UTA would be a good home-and-home series for us, but we also know that they've already released their 08-09 schedule - and we're not on it!

I'm glad you're having fun, Voice.  I think you put Canadian Ron into a meltdown with your rumor this morning!  Sure will be glad when this is done and "public".

Okay Voice. Go ahead and laugh about taking advantage of a poor naive Canadian. The excitement was good while it lasted though. :-D

I don't remember seeing the actual date posted before, but according to the LA Times blogs we play USC in LA on Dec. 28.

That's 26 regular season games right there - assuming we go for 30 total, that leaves the two home games Voice referred to earlier, plus one or two more money games on the road at BCS-type schools, and we're done.

Excellent recap, OT.  Is the San Juan Tourney an exempt event that doesn't count against our game total?  If so, might we have 32 or 33 games - including an extra guarantee BCS game or two?  I would not be at all surprised to see a home game against a D2 school on the schedule in late November.
