Chapman has had two more scorelesss outings this week in relief and his ERA is now down to an incredible 1.26....Chance appears to have to role of main set up man for Clearwater which is what TheEagleman sees him as doing if he ever made it to the Phillies....if he keeps this up I could see a promotion to AA Reading in the near future!... :-D

Chance Chapman does it again!...last night he pitched 2.2 scoreless innings in relief of Phillies #1 pick Kyle Drabek (son of former major leaguer Doug Drabek) to get the win in Clearwater's 5-3 victory over the Daytona Cubs....Chance is now 2-1 with a 1.06 ERA....he gave up only 2 hits and had 2 Ks..... :-D

Another scoreless 1.2 innings for Chance last night in relief of the starter but the closer blew the save in the 9th and Clearwater lost....still, Chapman is 2-1 and ERA down to 0.96.....he gave up 0 hits and one walk in the outing.... :-)

Another 2 inning no hit and no run performance for Chance as he got the win in Saturday night's Clearwater game.....Chapman now is 3-1 with an ERA of 0.87...... :-D

Sounds like Chase is getting "Reading" for a move to AA.  :-D

Clearwater hung on to beat the Lakeland Tigers today, 9-8 and guess who came on in the 9th to get the save?....yes, that would be our boy, Chance Chapman....another scoreless outing and his first save of the year on 3 groundouts....ERA now is 0.77......this season Chapman has started, pitched middle relief, set up and closer....a Chance of all trades!..... :-D

The Phillies have promoted Chappy to AA and the Reading Phillies!....this is good news and only about an hour drive for TheEagleman who will get up to see them this season at some point....problem is they are also using Chance in relief so you never know when he might pitch....still, a great start to the season for Chapman earning a promotion in just 6 weeks!... :-)

CHAPPY WINS BACK TO BACK GAMES FOR READING PHILS!......Chance came in and got his first win at the AA level Thursday night in a 2-1 win at Akron....then last night, Chance pitched a scoreless 11th vs. New Hampshire and the Phillies won the game in the bottom of the inning to make Chappy 2-0 in his first week of AA ball....won't be long before Chance is in the bullpen at Citizens Bank Park here in Philly.........or include him in a trade to San Diego for Jake Peavy.... :-P

I don't keep up with MLB at all, so I had to look up Jake Peavy.  Found this neat YouTube video:

Yes, Jake Peavy is a very good man as well as one of the top pitchers in the Majors....rumors have the Padres wanting to move him and his big salary for young players....problem is that Peavy has a full no trade in his contract and has to approve any deal....Phils would love to get him as would others but Jake is very picky about where he might want to relocate his family....Philadelphia has tough demanding fans but we are very loyal and Philly and surrounding suburbs are a great place to live....just ask mrs. Eagleman..... :-D

Chappy has gotten hit around in his last 2 outing for the Phillies....took the loss in a game last weekend when he gave up the winning run in the 11th inning and got banged around again on Sunday....he is now 3-1 but ERA has ballooned up to 6.55 in 11 appearances at AA Reading...... :-P

A scoreless inning for Chance last night in a loss to the Bowie Baysox.....his ERA dropped to a lusty 6.00......it's not as bad as it sounds because in 13 appearances so far at AA Reading he got hammered twice which hurts when you are a reliever.....overall, Chappy is having a pretty good season..... :-)

The good news for Chappy is that overall his combined record for Clearwater and Reading is 6-2 with a 2.55 ERA.....23 appearances and 35 total innings.....he's really having a good year for the Phillies....and the big club is in dire need of middle relief in the bullpen....TheEagleman is not saying that Chance will be in the majors in 2009 but 2010 is not out of the question if he continues to show stability as a middle reliever or set up man....after all, Chappy is no spring chicken at 25 yrs old....he should have the maturity in what is now his 3rd season as a pro.... I would expect if he continues to pitch well, Chapman should start the 2010 season in AAA pitching for the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs....then again, TheEagleman would not be shocked if the Phils put together a late summer trade for a starter and Chance was included in that deal....

Chance went 2.1 innings tonight in relief and gave up 5 hits and 2 runs on long ball....Reading is getting hammered 9-4 in the 6th.....not his best outing of the year.... :-P

Chappy and the Reading Phils are over across the river in Trenton this weekend and TheEagleman is going to try and get over there to see them Sunday night....if i can get there early enough I will try to say hello to Chance prior to the game...last year at Lakewood, NJ...I was fortunate enough to catch him behind the plate charting pitches and we chatted for pre-game for about 5 minutes....nice kid....hope he gets to pitch this weekend..... :-)

TheEagleman and grandsons went over to Trenton tonight to watch the Chance and the Reading Phils beat the Thunder, 8-3 in AA Eastern League ball tonight....unfortunately, Chappy didn't get in the game as the starter pitched well and went 7.....I did see him run in from the bullpen wearing #31 this year but never got a chance to say hello...there was a sellout crowd of 9000+ in attendence tonight....Chance did pitch a scoreless inning in last night's game..... :-)
