theeagleman5
Chapman returned to the mound last night and was in good form...after being out for 3 weeks with a pinched nerve he tossed 5 scoreless innings...gave up 4 hits and 0 runs...walked none and had 6 Ks....when he left, Lakewood was up 4-0 but the bullpen blew the game 6-5....chance remains 7-5 with an ERA of 2.90......... ....this was an important game for the BlueClaws who are battling for the 2nd half crown...they are a couple games behind with one week left in the season.... theeagleman5
Chance went 5 strong innings last night but got no run support in a 3-0 loss to DelMarva....he gave up 5 hits and 2 runs...walked 1 and had 5 Ks but took the loss to drop to 7-6 on the season....ERA is now 2.96... Lakewood has dropped 3 games out of the 2nd half lead and their chances of making the playoffs look dim....Chapman will probably get one more start in the season finale on Labor Day....... theeagleman5
Lakewood was eliminated yesterday from any chance at the 2nd Half title...today will be their final game of the season with Chapman probably starting....too bad for the BlueClaws...they will finish with the overall best record in their conference but finished 2nd in both halves since the South Atlantic League plays a split season..... theeagleman5
Chance had another hard luck start in the season finale for Lakewood...he was on the short end of a 2-1 loss....threw 5 decent innings giving up 2 runs on 5 hits...walked 2 and had 5 Ks....Chance finishes at 7-7 with an ERA of 2.98....he threw 139 innings total and had 118 Ks and only 37 walks....gave up just 6 dingers.....all in all not a bad season and an ERA under 3.00 is good in any league...not sure what Phillies plans are for Chapman but i would expect him to move up to AA ball at Reading, PA next season.....i will keep you posted if i read anything locally in the sports news.... theeagleman5
Chance Chapman had an above average season and the future looks good for him in the Phillies organization which desperately needs young pitching....he finished 7-7 but easily should have had 10-12 wins but was plagued by lack of run support from the light hitting BlueClaws.....the team was 11-12 in games he started....hoping to see Chance at AA Reading, PA in 2009..... theeagleman5
The Lakewood BlueClaws actually make available some of their game worn jerseys for sale to the public and i am sure you Chance Chapman fans could pick up one of his.....they have home pinstripes, away gray and and also alternate blue and red jerseys which they wear on occasion....for info, go to lakewoodblueclaws.com ......TheEagleman is interested in one of those blue ones or maybe a red....very sharp! Hoping that Chance will move up to AA ball next season with the Reading (PA) Phillies.......

theeagleman5
Good news and bad news.....the bad is that TheEagleman thought Chance Chapman would be up at AA ball for the Reading Phillies this year so we could get up there and see him pitch.....but Chance has been assigned to the Phillies top A ball team.....the good news for Chance is that he plays in Clearwater FL for the Threshers....Clearwater obviously a lot better weather than Reading PA.....this is a promotion to the High A team but still, at 25 yrs old Chance is not a young guy for A ball and this is his 3rd season in the pros....TheEagleman thought the way he pitched last season at Lakewood would earn a slot in AA....but what does TheEagleman know, I guess....hopefully if Chapman does well, he could be promoted to Reading by June or July..... theeagleman5
Chance got his first action of the season last night in a 10-6 Clearwater loss to Dunedin....he got the call out of the bullpen early after the starter got shelled and went 2.2 scoreless innings giving up only 1 hit with 4 Ks and 2 BB.....i would think Chapman's shot at the bigs would eventually be as a middle reliever or set up guy.....right now he does not appear to be in the Threshers rotation as a starter...TheEagleman will continue to follow his progress.... theeagleman5
Chapman actually started tonight's 2nd game of a twi-nite doubleheader in Clearwater vs. Lakeland....he went 3 innings and gave up 2 runs and 6 hits...no walks and 3 Ks....at the game is now in the 6th and the Threshers are down 2-1.....Chance stands to take the loss if Clearwater doesn't come from behind.....appears they are using a committee game....don't think Chance will be one of the regular starters in the rotation at this point.... theeagleman5
Chapman did take the loss...he is now 0-1 with an ERA of 3.18 in 2 early appearances....
theeagleman5
Chance pitched a scoreless 8th inning in the set up role on Sunday night as Clearwater beat the Tampa Yankees, 3-1....he is now 0-1 with an ERA of 2.70.....
theeagleman5
Chance just got finished throwing 4 scoreless/hitless innings in relief tonight for Clearwater and stands to be the winning pitcher as the Threshers lead Lakeland 6-3 in the 7th inning....no runner even reached base as Chapman retired all 12 batters he faced and had 4 Ks....his ERA is down to 1.69...... theeagleman5
Clearwater did hold on for a 7-6 win on thursday night so Chapman got the win...he is now 1-1 with a 1.69 ERA....11 SO and 2 W....if he keeps this up, TheEagleman is hoping for a promotion to AA Reading Phillies for Chance by June.....
