theeagleman5
Chapman had his best game of the season for Lakewood this afternoon pitching a complete game and giving up only 1 unearned run and 3 hits...he had 6 Ks and 0 walks....unfortunately, the BlueClaws did nothing with the bats and Chance took a 1-0 loss...he is now 1-2 with an incredible ERA of 1.67...he has now thrown 27 innings in 7 appearances...21 Ks and only 8 walks...Lakewood is now 11-13 for the season....Chapman seems to have cemented his spot in the starting rotation...he has the lowest ERA on the staff and this was the first complete game by any pitcher.... theeagleman5
Not a positive report this week on Chance Chapman...he got shelled in Lakewood's 7-1 loss at home yesterday afternoon....Chance only lasted 4 innings...gave up 6 runs (5 earned)....he gave up 9 hits, walked 2 and stuck out 2...ERA now up to 2.90 and he is 1-3 for the season.....still, only his 2nd subpar outing out of 8 appearances.... theeagleman5
Chapman rebounded with an excellent performance last night for Lakewood...he went 7 innings and gave up only 1 run and 6 hits...no walks and 6 Ks....his ERA has dropped to 2.61...Chance did not figure in the decision because it was 1-1 when he was lifted but the BlueClaws eventually won the game..... theeagleman5
Chance pitched again Thursday night and had a shutout going for 5 innings but then got nicked for a pair of runs and the 6th and 2 more in the 7th before being lifted....he had 3 Ks and 1 walk....did not factor in the decision of a game the BlueClaws lost at Greensboro. Chance is stil 1-3 with a 3.09 ERA so far this season in 8 starts and 2 relief appearances....The ace of the staff just got moved up to Clearwater by the Phillies so Chapman now has the chance to be the #1 guy if he can pick it up.... theeagleman5
Chapman took another hard luck loss on monday night as the BlueClaws dropped a 3-1 game.....Chance got 0 runs while he was in the game and pitched 6 shutout innings before getting tagged for 3 runs in the 7th when he was knocked out...he struck out 2 and walked none....Chapman now 1-4 and ERA is 3.11.....Lakewood has not been playing well and not scoring many runs....Chapman has gotten the least run support of any pitcher on the team....bummer.. theeagleman5
Chance Chapman rebounded with a super performance this afternoon against West Virginia on the road....The BlueClaws actually gave CC some run support and he left the game after 7 scoreless innings with a 7-0 lead....Chance had 8 SOs and only 1 walk and gave up 3 hits...his ERA dropped to 2.83 and Lakewood won 13-2 now having won 5 games in a row.... theeagleman5
Chapman had another big outing and a victory last Saturday and was named Phillies minor league pitcher of the week last week for his 2 wins....chance is now 3-4 with an ERA of 2.81 fore the season...there is a chance he could be promoted to Clearwater Fla. before the end of the summer....i think Chapman could be in the majors by 2010 if he keep this pace....he's doing a great job and the Phils need starters.......or perhaps long relief!.... theeagleman5
Chance had an up and down week at Lakewood....last sunday they staked him to a 6-2 lead early but it all came unraveled in the 6th inning and chance got pounded out of the game...Lakewood rallied to tie the game but lost in the 9th..he did not take the loss but is ERA ballooned up to 3.50...however, last night, Chapman pitched 6 outstanding shutout innings...2 hits, 2 Walks and 9 Ks....and Lakewood went on to a 4-0 win....Chance evens his record at 4-4 with and ERA of 3.12.....he is the #2 starter on the staff..... theeagleman5
Lakewood is in 3rd place in their division but only 1 game out of first after winning 2 straight from first place Lake County....Chapman will be pitching tonight or sunday....he is currently 4-4 with a team best 3.15 ERA amongst the starters....in 74 innings he has 64 SO and only 20 walks....so far, so good for Chance...it is possible he could get a call up to High Class A Clearwater before the end of the season but if not, I would expect him there or AA Reading next year...... theeagleman5
Chance got another no decision today....he went 5+ strong innings giving up only 3 hits and 2 runs and left with a 3-2 lead....but, the blueclaws bullpen blew it and they lost....chapman had 3 SOs and 2 Walks...his ERA dropped to 3.06.....so he is still 4-4 for the season.... theeagleman5
Chance scattered 9 hits and 2 walks in seven scoreless innings last night as the BlueClaws won big, 11-2. Chapman got the win to go 5-4 and lower his ERA to 2.81...he had 4 SOs.....one of his best efforts of the season to bring Lakewood within 3 games of first place....the top 2 pitchers on this staff have now been promoted to Clearwater so Chance is now the ace....he could also be the next pitcher promoted depending on his performance and possible injures at the next level...... theeagleman5
Chapman got no run support yesterday as he took the loss in a 3-2 Blue Claws defeat....Chance went 7 innings...gave up 2 runs and scattered 10 hits....walked 3 and had 4 Ks.....his record drops to 5-5 with an ERA of 2.81... theeagleman5
A strong outing by Chapman last night as the BlueClaws won 3-2 vs. Augusta, GA....Chance went 8 2/3 innings giving up 2 runs and 7 hits...he had 2 walks and 7 Ks...he was unable to get the final out but still a great game for chaps who is now 6-5 with a 2.74 ERA....TheEagleman is going to get down to Lakewood, NJ and watch a game later this month.... Mike Minyard
BlueClaws' Chapman outduels Giants' phenom Thursday's starters Chance Chapman of Lakewood and Madison Bumgarner of Augusta were both selected in the 2007 Major League Baseball First Year Players Draft, and the similarities end there. Bumgarner, a first-round pick of the San Francisco Giants, has taken the South Atlantic League by storm as an 18-year-old. Entering Thursday night's game against the BlueClaws, the left-hander from North Carolina was 8-2 with a 1.77 ERA and 91 strikeouts to just 15 walks in 81 1/3 innings. Chapman was an eighth-round selection of the Phillies out of Oral Roberts University and while he has been one of Lakewood's most reliable arms, the 24-year-old has not generated the kind of buzz among scouts and players that Bumgarner has. theeagleman5
Good stuff, mike....Chance Chapman is now the top starter on this staff since the #1 and #2 guys have been promoted to Clearwater, FL....i thinks Chapman has a shot to be in the majors in a couple years....last year the Phillies were desperate for a starter due to injuries a couple months into the season and they brought up an unhearalded 9th round pick from Reading named Kyle Kendrick who was 23 at the time....all the kid did was be consistant all season and stuck in the roatation...so far in 2008 he has been the phils' #2 pictcher with a 9-4 record and an ERA around 4.00.....he just throws strikes and keeps the ball down...throws maybe 91-92....i see chance as being that type of pitcher for the phils who need starting pitching badly.... theeagleman5
Chapman pitched 6 decent innings last night in Lakewood's 5-4 victory but did not factor in the decision....he gave up 8 hits and 3 runs (2 earned)...had 4 Ks and 1 walk...Chance is still 6-5 with a 2.76 ERA for the season.... ....theEagleman is planning on heading over to Lakewood on 7/31 to catch a BlueClaws game with his buds from work....no doubt many Buds will be consumed....
