I wasn't offended. I haven't walked a mile in her shoes. We both lived in Susie V. the first year it was open and she sang with the World Action Singers. We only had 1,100 students at the time and she was always a nice person. (that means we went to ORU together theeagleman5)

Cody's house has helped a lot of children http://www.kathieleegifford.com/lamb04/ ... PRmesg.php

I was more offended when during Founder's Day everyone that Dean Hamilton listed as famous alumni was a minister.

Name a more famous alumni - alumnus - alumnae - person who graduated from ORU.

Would you prefer Ned Flanders?  :-P

LOL.

Seriously though, with all the stuff going on the last few months they probably did us a favor going the Kathie Lee/Matt Groening route. They could have tried to run the religious angle into the ground.

But I did see a True Hollywood Story on Kathie Lee and she kinda disowned her time at ORU. Hater  :x

When CBS put up that little blip about Kathy Lee Gifford the Pitt fans I was with jokingly said,

"Hey, Cletus, how come your name isn't there as a famous alumnus?"

I replied,

"Because I live in Lower Burrell PA just like you, come on!"

We all laughed.

ms gifford did not speak kindly about oru and the rules would rather have them say taubert, law or luce as well known alumni

a hipper more current alum to mention would have been ryan tedder.  you can't turn on a top 40 radio station and not hear his hit "apologize."  what has kathie lee done in the last 20 years other than enslave a bunch of third world kids to make her clothes?

Before we get too judgmental on Kathy Lee.....the former ORU culture and her not being welcomed at ORU had a lot to do with her attitude towards ORU. It was the result of "seeds planted".  If that had been different, it is safe to assume that the ripple effect would have been different as well.

I too would have liked Ryan Tedder ( OneRepublic).  Wonder if we could get him to do a concert as a fundraiser at ORU?  We could certainly pack the Mabee!! Maybe DJ Clay could be an opening act?

Let's also not forget that maybe Kathy Lee was jaded for reasons that are not longer up in running at ORU. There's a new culture at ORU that is growing and maybe we should reach our hand out to her and invite her back to the table.

I'm an alum and I have no idea who you're talking about, so they can't be that "well-known", much less "famous".

I totally agree and Frank Gifford would be a great name to have for a fundraising event.

Some people might know Cliff Taulbert (who I also went to ORU with) because of his books and movies

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clifton_Taulbert Cliff was nominated for a Pulitzer prize.

Ron Luce founded Teen Mania http://edition.cnn.com/2007/US/08/22/gw ... ans/

Terry Law started Living Sound after graduating from ORU http://worldcompassion.tv/

While they all have done wonderful things, I don't think they have the name recognition of Kathy Lee, Ryan Tedder or Matt Groening.

We know Ryan's parents and my wife was his mom's delivery nurse - she was there for his birth.
