Oral Roberts head women?s basketball coach Jerry Finkbeiner announced the 2007-08 schedule on Monday afternoon, which features 2007 NCAA Tournament participants Boise State and Oklahoma State as well as match-ups with Missouri Valley Conference foes Missouri State and Creighton at home.

?There is no question that we are stepping up in level of difficulty for this coming year's basketball schedule,? Finkbeiner said. ?This season?s home schedule will include two Missouri Valley schools and our games on the road feature Tulsa, Big 12 programs Texas Tech and Oklahoma State, and WAC champion/NCAA participant Boise State.?

The Golden Eagles will open the season with exhibition games against Missouri Western and Cameron University on November 8 and 10 with 2:05 p.m. tip-offs at the Mabee Center. ORU opens regular season play on Tuesday, Nov. 13 against cross-town rival Tulsa at the Reynolds Center on the TU campus. They wrap up November play with a visit from Northern Colorado on Saturday, Nov. 17 and a trip to Conway, Ark., to take on Central Arkansas.

The first week of December will be quite busy as ORU travels to Houston, Texas to compete against Texas Southern on Saturday, Dec. 1, followed by a Monday, Dec. 3 game against Boise State in Boise, Idaho. The Bronco?s finished the 2006 season as champions of the Western Athletic Conference and made their second-ever appearance at the NCAA Tournament as the No. 12 seed, falling to the No. 5 seed George Washington in the opening round.

The conference portion of the schedule begins December 8 as South Dakota State and North Dakota State make their first appearances at the Mabee Center as members of the Summit League on December 8 and 10. Missouri State will wrap up a three-game home swing as the Bears come to town on December 15 for a 2:05 p.m. match-up. Lubbock, Texas is next up for the Golden Eagles as they travel south to take on Big 12 opponent Texas Tech December 18, followed by a home game with Creighton on Dec. 21 and a trip to Oklahoma State on Dec. 28.

"With this outstanding list of opponents our fans may be surprised to find out that the two toughest games on paper will be our home and home series versus Summit league opponent, South Dakota State,? Finkbeiner said. ?Last year they hovered around the Top 25 RPI numbers nationally all year. Our fans will be in for a real treat when the Jackrabbits from Brookings, S.D. come to town.?

The Golden Eagles will bring in the New Year on the road as they take on Texas-Pan American January 1 in Edinburg, Texas, followed by stops at Centenary (Jan. 5), Oakland (Jan. 12) and IPFW (Jan. 14) before they return home for a two-game homestand with Western Illinois (Jan. 19) and IUPUI (Jan. 21). Trips to Southern Utah on January 26 and UMKC on January 28 will wrap up the month of January.

Five of the seven February games find ORU in their comfort zone as they play Centenary (Feb. 2), IPFW (Feb. 9), Oakland (Feb. 11), UMKC (Feb. 23) and Southern Utah (Feb. 25) at the Mabee Center. Two stops at IUPUI and Western Illinois on February 16 and 18 complete the seven-game month.

ORU concludes Summit League action with trips to the Dakotas as they travel to North Dakota State on March 1 and South Dakota State on March 3.

The Summit League Women?s Basketball Championship is scheduled to end its four-year run in Tulsa March 8-11 at the John Q. Hammons Arena.

The Golden Eagles return four starters and six letterwinners from last season?s 22-11 Mid-Continent Conference tournament championship squad, including Jenny Hardin, an all-Mid-Con second team pick, and Mid-Con all-Newcomer Janae Voelker. ORU advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the fourth time in school history after defeating Oakland in the Mid-Con Tournament.

It looks like another great schedule for the ladies.  I am shwoing a lot of optimism because of the talent the women have returning.  It should be a great years.

Does anyone know how Janae Voelker is doing?  Will she be playing this season?  She really came on strong towards the end of last season, and her injury in the Mid-Con championship was very unfortunate.  I think we'll really be needing her with this tough schedule.
