Here's what's been posted so far...

6/1/07

3:15 p.m.

Rain delay time in Wichita... the tarp is being rolled out now and it will be at least 30 minutes before we resume play.

2:45 p.m.

Get 'em on, get 'em over, get 'em in. That philosophy has worked well for ORU in the past and it served the Golden Eagles in the top of the fifth today against Arizona. A lead-off single by Brendan Duffy, a double by Kelly Minissale and a pair of RBI groundouts by Jake Kahaulelio and Chad Rothford has tied it at 3-3. The RBI is Rothford's ninth in four career Regional games.

2:30 p.m.

Arizona's Preston Guilmet may have nine strikeouts through four innings, but the Golden Eagles are really making him work. Since retiring ORU in order on 12 pitches in the first inning, the 1st-team All-American has thrown 68 pitches in three innings. But the Golden Eagles need to string some hits together to knock Guilmet out of the game. ORU has left five runners on base. It's 3-1 heading into the bottom of the fourth.

2:12 p.m.

We have our first final of the day. Clemson scored two runs in the bottom of the ninth for a 3-2 win over St. John's in Conway, S.C.

1:59 p.m.

Two words: Damage Control. Chance Chapman handled a potentially game-changing situation in the bottom of the 2nd the way an All-American should. With a runner on second, none out and a run home, Chapman got a strikeout, a groundout and a comebacker to end the threat and keep Arizona's lead at 1-0.

1:29 p.m.

Great play by Jake Kahaulelio to end the top of the first... with runners on 1st and 2nd, Tulsa Union product Brad Glenn hit a bounding ball up the middle, which Kahaulelio -- in one motion --snagged on the shortstop side of second and stepped on the base with his right toe.

1:16 p.m.

Don't expect this game to breeze by without a weather delay. A major storm system is about 50 miles to the west of Wichita, and there isn't much chance it's going to miss us. The last thing either team wants is a delay which effects pitching, and with two All-Americans going against each other today a delay doesn't favor anyone.

12:40 p.m.

If you're planning on coming to tonight's game between Wichita State and New Orleans, you better call the WSU Ticket Office now. Less than 100 reserved seats remain for the game. Visit www.goshockers.com for more info.

11:11 a.m.

This is my first (and possibly last) attempt at putting together a blog. I figure the baseball post-season is a perfect time, so what the heck. There?s a lot of news generated this time of year on ORU baseball, so maybe I can help fans find it without going through the trouble themselves.

We awoke to a rainy Wichita this morning, after severe thunderstorms pounded the area beginning around midnight. Looks like we may be dodging bad weather all day, but the game should start on time at 1 p.m. Central.

As I take a look around at the national baseball media outlets, everyone has a breakdown of the all the regionals. Baseball America has one of the most complete write ups, and Kendall Rogers at Rivals.com has a nice one on the Wichita Regional, too. Doesn?t seem like too many people are giving ORU much of a chance. Guess we?ll see.

Chance Chapman, Jeremy Hefner and Jerry Sullivan have been getting most of the ink lately when people talk about ORU?s pitching staff but, as the Tulsa World?s John Hoover points out, Erik Crichton may be the Golden Eagles? most vital arm this weekend.

The Wichita Eagle has a great feature on Brendan Duffy?s journey from struggling junior college outfielder to the model of consistency for a Top 25 team. Having a brother in the big leagues can only help.

One of ORU?s unsung heroes this season gets a nice mention from his hometown newspaper.

Arizona, ORU?s opponent today, has one of the least experienced teams in Regional play, despite making their third regional appearance in the last four years.

With All-American?s Chance Chapman and Preston Guilmet facing each other today, runs may be at a premium. At least that what Rob Walton thinks in the breakout box within this story about Arizona?s bullpen.

In non-baseball related news, the Mid-Continent Conference is now officially The Summit League, and along with a new name comes a new website.

You're blog is superb, blevins.  Very informative.  Thanks for taking the time to do that.  I wish Terry could pin the link to the top of the board, but he's out in Colorado right now . . .
